I need some advice and help:
I just went to turn on my Nfusion HD. Did something weird. First it woiuld not respond to the remote then I turned it off with the switch in the rear. it came on with some funny stuff in the window. So I turned it off again
Now all I get is the blue light and nothing else.
I have unplug it for 15 minutes and nothing changes. I plan to leave it unplugged over night but I don't think that will cure anything. Opened the box up and the heat sink for the 8psk baord fell out. Easy to fix but not the problem for sure.
Now has anyone else out there had this happen. I am thinking that this STD has bought the grave. Oh yes !
The capacitors look alright?????
So any advise would be appreciated..
Thanks

Have another look at capacitor C10. You are describing the symptoms that suggest it is blown.

Thanks !
Upon closer inspection I see the C 10 capacitor is bulging on top. Must be bad and the box is doing exactly what has been described here many times. This unit has it's own fan and I am wondering if it has quit???? Plus I did have a cooler on it..
Doesn't look like it worked????
I will replace the Capacitor and see what happens and report back.

Well, we ran all over looking but finally got a new capacitor to replace the bad one??????
To bad but it appears the whole unit is fried. I have power to the mother board but the mother board does not respond. Have the cooling fan working though?????
3 heat sinks were detached. Two from the 8psk board and the other from the CPU on the mother board. I am sorry to say that this box is now junk. Pretty sure the CPU is burned up. Might be able to salvage for parts but no hope in getting it operational at this point. A new situation just occured. While typing this the box was still on and the new capacitor which I just installed blew. Loud pop and it was bubbling on the top. Now I do not think these are polarity sensitive so some thing else is wrong?????
Oh well !
Thanks to all for help.
Now looking for another Nfusion HD box?????

your box is fine, you installed the cap backwards that is why it exploded.
try it again but installed correctly, you may be surprised.
below quote by setwire
"Yes it is usually C10 that blows and creates this problem.
Nf Power supply Board
The weak Capacitor is Capacitor C10
4700uF-------10 Volts.
Replace with 4700uf 35 Volt or any 4700uf Capacitor with a higher voltage rating..
Make sure you get the polarity correct when replacing.
The white stripe on a capacitor denotes the Negative polarity.
If installed backwards the replacement capacitor will explode when power is applied."

Thanks GT !
I can see now that I did install it backwards. Not as sharp as I used to be. Dam ! Should have payed more attention.
Anyway I will need to get another capacitor. Not easy to find these. i believe the place where I got this one had another but 65V which should be fine. i will report back when done....

I have replaced the C10 capacitor correctly now and still only get a blue light. No response from the box what so ever. i believe at this time it has burned up. Before this happend it was getting really hot even with the cooler on it. Cooler did help but when I found the heat sinks from the cpu and 2 on the 8psk board detached that set me thinking that this is not a good sign.
My best guess at this point is the PS board is working but the mother board is byebye. The internal cooling fan runs every so often but thats all.
I guess I have a parts unit now???? Ha !
