Toronto bars will be open early this weekend so sports fans can gather and watch the final events of the Sochi Olympics.
City Councillors voted 37-4 to allow bars, cafes and restaurants to serve alcohol starting at 7 a.m. EST this weekend, except in York Centre, York South and Willowdale.
Canada captured a historic fourth Olympic gold medal in women’s hockey Thursday with a 3-2 overtime win over the United States in a thrilling final.
On the men’s side, Canada faces the United States in the semifinals on Friday at 12 p.m. EST. The men’s final is slated for 7 a.m. EST on Sunday.
