Has anyone tried to clone there HDD with the new windows 8.1 Heavier Edition 2014, I keep a fail to read sector
problem using, Acronis True Image 2010, or is it just me.
I like to backup all my O.S. on another HDD just in case, but this one is driving nuts.

I haven't played with Win8 much as what I seen when it was still in development stage was enough to steer me in a different direction but I have heard that backups and restores do not work well. It could very well be Win8 is using some type or strange format on that sector for whatever reason and True Image does not know how to deal with it as it is an older version. I would try the newest version from Acronis and if that doesn't do it then look in their FAQ section.
It could also be an early indicator that the hard drive is having issues

Run chkdsk /r on the disk to recover any bad sectors and recover any readable data. Then try to make the image again.
you might also want to try Norton Ghost 15 to image the drive. NG15 doesn't work within Windows 8, you need to boot from the CD

I found that my two new HDDs are bad, just went back to comp, usa and got two more and that was the problem, so yes you can clone windows 8,1, I think I like this version of windows 8.1 & the best part is it was free,LOL.
Thanks.

I clone 8.1 every day as a back up using Macrium Relect. It is free and amazingly fast I can back up 70GB partition in 4 and a half minutes and if necessary restore it to a new HDD in about double that time.
