I tried setting up a Dreamlink T5 with the instructions posted on the forum, but strangely even without the satellite cable plugged in, I am seeing signal and quality showing on the box.
Any thoughts?

#2 I am not able to see satellites 110 and 119 on the list of satellites. Any thoughts?

You have to reset after loading the file them it should come up

Thank you, your suggestion worked and the list of satellites are now showing, much appreciated. Any thoughts on why a signal strength and quality level displays although the satellite cable is removed?

The colour change when you are on satellite and have the correct settings.

Thank you, that's very helpful to know, as it shows in red right now. This forum is amazing for knowledge sharing. I appreciate your help.

The false indications you are seeing (red bars) is the AGC* in the receivers tuner trying to pick up any signal to get the receiver to work, any stray signal like a cordless phone will cause a bounce, as Whoknows said, "When you get a satellite signal, it will change color" green bars mean you have a signal from the LNB ("S" reading) and a lock on the right satellite.("Q") reading)

*AGC= Automated Gain Control, a special RF circuit built into 95% of the RF receiver's out there today, it keeps the input signal level to the tuner at a constant, if too low it amplifies it, if too high it attenuates it, nominal input ranges from the LNB are from a -70 dBM to a -20 dBM, it try's to keep the output signal from it at about a -30 to a -40 dBM so the tuner does not get overloaded or starved for signal, if the signal goes too low it mutes the receiver, if it goes too high it shuts down so the tuner does not get damaged.

You rock, thanks for the explanation. I will probably understand more of the technical terms you explained as I learn more. I truly appreciate you taking the time.

Here is my current state: I am attempting to test to two satellites 119 and 110, but unsure what the settings should be on the receiver as I am not receiving the proper S and Q readings as I have since been enlightened. I thought it may be better to ask the experts in this forum, before tinkering with the positioning of the dishes.
Current settings are as follows:
Echostar 110/ 119
LNB Power =On
LNB Type =Single
LNB Freq =11.250
LNB 22 khz = OFF
DisEqCSW 1.0 =OFF
DisEqCSW1.0 =OFF
Legacy SW =OFF

Your assistance will be appreciated.

ur not using switch??

The type and how many LNB's????

Are they DP single LNB's, a DP twin LNB", or some other make?

And as Kidwcked mentioned you need to use some sort of switch for more then one LNB, if it's a DP twin LNB then you still need to use Diseqc 1.0 set to "ON" and Diseqc port # 1 for 119, and Diseqc port #2 for 110.

If two DP LNB's then most any DP rated switch will work, but you still need to use Diseqc 1.0 set to "ON", and what ever port you have the 119 and 110 LNB's attached to.

Without a switch go go between the two LNB's all you will get is one satellite.

Also the "LNB Type" needs to be set to "OCS-DP or Dish" if your using any DP LNB.

A little more info on your setup would help us a bit.

Dish type, LNB type, switch if any and type of coax you used. The type of coax is important as the stuff for CATV or off air TV doesn't work too good with DP LNB's.

I am unsure if I understood the question. I do have a switch connecting the receivers to the dishes. In fact, I may replace the switch, in case it is defective. The current one I used with another receiver many years ago, but not sure if it is working properly and the source of the problem. I the meantime I got a new DSW-41 900-2400MHz 4 way DiSEqC switch, but have not connected it as yet, as I Just want to do it step by step, so I make less mistakes and learn as I proceed. Does it make sense doing that first or do I need to configure the settings on the receiver first?

Thank You Terrl and Kidwcked. I will check those. The dishes each have dual LNB's and the single switch connects all of them.
I hope I answered the question.

Try it with the old switch first, but you need to see what LNB is connected to the # 1 and #2 inputs to the switch, you can do this but using "Diseqc 1.0 on" then try 110 set to Diseqc 2, and for 119 try it set to Diseqc 1, but you will have to change to TP 12495R to get a signal on 119.
