It's all in the eye of the beholder, go someplace where you can view both, (side by side if possible) and compare the two, but remember to look at them at the same distance and angles your going to be sitting from, and viewing the HDTV.
I myself like nether one, I like and use the JVC brands.

My Brother-in-law got a new JVC 1080P 55" at Costco, excellent picture, and it came with a Roku adapter for streaming movies, we set it up this weekend, and with a new Blu-Ray player to replace his DVD player it's out of this world.
Happy happy happy.

Depends on your budget, and what you watch. If you've got 2500.00 or so, buy the Vierra zt 60".Best pic on the market under 3 grand.I have 3 at home.Gotta a 60 in my home theater,55 in the living room, and a 50 in the bedroom.Last year for the Panasonic plasma.
If you spending a grand or so, JVC might be a consideration, but I would go Samsung led.
Samsung Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 3,500:1 and JVC Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 6Million:1 now the JVC is 720p and Samsung is 1080p.. JVC contrast is outstanding.. audio is much better too..

If you are looking for a 32 inch , then the difference between 720 and 1080i is very minimal ,in picture quality not sure you will know the difference, have 4 Samsungs LCD/LED a few questions does the room you are going to put the TV in is it a dark room or has a lot of lite ? Panasonic Plasma has a awesome picture , in a dark setting, and i would go with a Samsung LCD in a brightly lite room, a buddy of mine is a TV guru

In Electronics, nothing beats Samsung. I own just about everything that's Samsung, including my Cell phone and never have any problems with them what so ever.

All my HDTV's are JVC and never had any problems with them, and that's all I recommend.
As I said, "It's all in the eye's of the beholder" and "Location location location", some go for price, some go for what it has as signal inputs, other go for spec's, some go for brand names.
It's best to compare then decide.

Anubis
03-06-2014, 04:52 PM
Make sure you have set your tv input to where you have the HDMI cable plugged into.
eg. If cable is in hdmi1 then make sure the tv in the menu is set to HDMI 1.

You should be able to go into your menu and adjust the audio settings. Most new tv's allow for that. Also depending on te quality of your HDMI cable it can affect your audio as well.
You will also want to adjust all your picture settings as well.
It takes a bit of time to play with and set one up to your liking.

Ok was viewing 9436.. is it that D only broadcast in 1080i?
Terryl
03-06-2014, 06:54 PM
Dish nor anyone else on the high kU satellites is directly broadcasting in 1080i or P, the set top box of theirs up-converts to 1080i, I don't know about any FTA box doing that. (someone may know)
Dish and BEV do not have the transponder bandwidth to do a 1080 broadcast, they would run out of channel space for the other channels on that transponder.
There is an FTA satellite running 1080i, it is one of the PBS feeds on 125W.
You want 1080P then your going to need a Blu-Ray, or some local OTA channel in 1080i or P, but not satellite, not for a long time.

Terryl
03-06-2014, 08:14 PM
Shaw is in the low kU linear band, and does not have the same amount of HD channels per transponder that D and B have, (D and B have 7 pounds of poop crammed into a 5 pound bag) so they can splurge a bit and waist the bandwidth.(4 HD channels vs 10 on D&B)

If I go bigger I will have to make a new stereo cabinet, I have the tools but need the wood.
The next one I do will have hidden ventilation fans, duct-work and thermostats.
And would be nice to pivot out from the wall to get to the back of things.
Hummmm....Time for some auto cad work.
