New IKS software??

Do you guys think that IKS will come to an end? or do you think that they will have new software that will overcome the changes coming from DN and soon Bev?

Who ever you been listening to is full of it. The only reason why iks would come to an end is because the members feeding the man information. Example >I'm up> I'm getting freezing> Is channel 497 up> are we down> I get about 800 channels from 110 119> I'm using rocket to get bev> how many hd channels on 110> and on and on and on

why must you guys be completely oblivious to what i am asking? I know how it works and yes i am very much in the game and have been the past 5 years. DN is changing things around and if you haven't noticed that the past ECM we just had was not your everday ECM it was a bit different as other people have said aswell. Why do you think alot of people are making the jump to IPTV??

You got an answer and didn't like it. Oh ya dn has changed the e c m. Guess you forgot about one of the bigger suppliers bitting the dust. That might impact by an hour or so how quickly iks came back. Jump to iptv> ya right

Personally, I could see IKS being replaced by IPTV as really what is the difference? Eliminate the dependence on dishes and IKS is basically IPTV anyways.

Yes it is roughly the same as IPTV but more can be done with iks at this time. It's more of a waiting game if anything and its fun to be apart of

How so? IKS has all the channels available via a server. IPTV is/would be the exact same thing just with no dishes involved. If anything, IPTV would skyrocket in popularity (bigger than IKS) as there would be less equipment involved. Anyone can do it... IKS takes a tad more effort unless the dishes are already there.

Buy a receiver, enter in your P$ and hit connect. No setting up and scanning dishes, no diseqc switches, no weather issues unless internet related, etc.... IPTV is the future IMO, but what do I know :D

more can be done with IKS? such as what? granted all the IPTV programming sucks because I don't speak Arabic, Russian, Hindi or Mandarin Chinese but the potential is there to offer way more than IKS ever can or will. Hell man and go one step farther and load up XBMC and then either Navi-x or Mashup. IPTV on steroids in a way. All the sports you would ever want and hit the right spot and watch screeners of movies not even playing N America yet. Now IPTV has the potential as soon as they pull their heads out of their butts and realize the majority of people in this market speak English, Spanish or French and create a channel lineup to those demographics but with XBMC it is all there already. Now, lets see IKS do that! They really can't even offer up the full channel lineup for obvious reasons so where is the advantage in IKS?

There isn't many IPTV servers out there yet to my knowledge. I am aware of only 1 IPTV server for the South, but the seller isn't supported on here.

The cost to get into the IPTV game on the consumer side is still very high as it is still in its infancy and not much competition yet.

It's all fun and games until that certified letter arrives knocking at your door if your lucky as opposed to DN or BEV and a slew of cops and lawyers for them. Yup that's a lot of fun.... for them!

i think it has to do with legal issues....the heat they have is to mayor. also they never made iks receivers for DTV.... the infrastructure for iks dish was already on place, when we had a stand alone bin, the migration was easier.

It's not only the members, People who run these P$ is also to be blamed. For example making statements about changing cards, going to pick up cards, Use this URL or this IP etc etc, have been made by said individuals...

Yep! I know many moons ago (hu days) if you were in the know you could use a triple dragon with the right software to get DTV via iks.

I have had a dish since the days when nothing was scrambled. The only dry spell that I can remember is a couple of years between the end of the Videocipher and the start of the Direct card testing. Wherever there is a profit, there will be testing.

coders hate fta plus the fact it's not worth the lawsuit you'll never see a stand alone bin again

their up to something....after 5 years they have had plenty of time analyze and study this....dont let yourself be fool theirs a lot of smart people looking at this....

DTV swapped out older boxes and updated the firmware in other boxes to prevent the VA keys from being pulled via the ram I real time.

I don't think the March 13 ECM had anything to do with a TSOP update and the card is still showing the same revision. Maybe they changed the MAP area or something. Some are guessing that whatever they did it was effecting legal subs and that was the reason they had to pull it - but who knows :-)

Xbmc can be a pain...have to keep up with add-ons..to eliminate broken links...not for the average Joe.. it's good for back up, but not as main source...Most women would have nothing to do with XBMC..they wanna hit the button on remote..AND yes, have been using XBMC , navi-x, mashup for a long time...One thing...Can't beat the smut

And my opinion on IP TV...even if IP TV offer the same programing as dish...u just be trading one risk for another....u have to log in using IP address that can trace back to u.
