You don't need sat for nhl center ice. Their internet streaming service is unprotected and you can use VLC to stream every nhl game live and also view them after the games are over.

I can do that but the quality is terrible and looks even worse on a 100" projector.

4500 kbps / 60fps streaming looks pretty good. Also, I don't think any service is offering center ice. At least none that I've heard of since the end of beaver.
