CD Rom to DVD Writer

Hello gang, if I change the CD Rom from my desktop with a DVD writer do I need to install a driver or something or it should be a plug and play deal? Thanks in advance TurboPirate

plug it in and ready to go. just be sure you are purchasing one with the correct connectors as that may have changed depending how old/new your hardware is

both are old the DVD writer was recently found and need to burn some CD and DVD. TurboPirate

I did that to an old Dell I borrowed from work, Optiplex 745, and I found that when I used the DVD read/writer that my computer actually slowed down but when it was writing to the HDD it sped up.....weird! I actually had to use a USB hub with a 2-->1 Y so that I could power a USB Drive.
