I plan on installing a single T5 on a Dish 1000.2 and want to verify the T5 can be installed on the port1 inline with the power inserter only without the DPP44 switch since I am using the switch on my own set up. I know some receivers don't play well with only the power inserter and need either a sub receiver or the DPP44 switch to be installed with it. I had overheating issues with an older HD receiver with this type of set up. I am trying to keep the install simple and cheap since it's not my own set-up. Thanks for any help.

You done need to use the DPP44 switch, only is power inserter, unless you need to run more then 3 receivers.
Some have reported problems with an FTA receiver in-line with the DPP power inserter.
Thus it's best to run the power inserter on it's own coax to the #1 port on the D1000 LNB, there are 2 other ports on that LNB that will run an FTA receiver just fine after that.
You can try it but there could be long term damage to your receiver's LNB power supply circuit or to the receiver's tuner, how long would it take is anyone's best guess.
Also there is about 6 dB of insertion loss when the power inserter is in-line to the LNB, this may or may not be a problem, it all depends on how long a run of coax it is out to the LNB and what type and quality the coax is.

Terryl, thanks for your input. I hooked up Jynxbox V3 inline with a power inserter on my own set-up and it overheated like crazy, so I hooked up an old CW 600 instead of my Jynxbox and it worked fine. Unfortunately I don't have a spare CW 600 receiver so I guess I will try an old VS ultra or pansat 3500, I think I will have better luck with an older unit. Thanks

You can use an old cw600 to power the triple lnb's?

Only if it can supply 650 mA or more of DC current, at around 18 to 20 VDC.

How would you find that out?, if someone had an old cw800, you know for science. I'm guessing a triple lnb uses more current then a double?

Yes the 3 headed DP LNB for the D1000 series takes about 650 mA at 18 to 22 volts DC to run right, the double LNB (DP twin) only takes 300 to 350 mA at 18 VDC to run right.
But 3 DP single LNB's (with an external Diseqc switch) takes less then the 3 LNB combined one, this due to the internal switching (and a few other things) on the DP 1000 LNB, so a 3 DP single setup can be run by most FTA receivers rated at 500 mA max at the LNB input jack.

Thank you for the info.

why you have a DPP44 on a Dish1000.2 you have 4 receiver or 4 Sat ?
because the Dish 1000.2 has a internal Switch for 3 Receiver and you connect direct from the LNB to the receiver.
if you have 4 receiver then you have to change the power inserter to other room and you have to change the port on the DPP44, so you don't have any problem

You still need the power inserter for the D1000 LNB, most FTA receivers can't run that LNB for very long, not without some sort of long term damage to the receiver.
Power inserter has to go to the #1 port on the LNB on it's own coax.
