View Full Version : My finding after 1 week of testing 2.51 file

I have bin testing this file for a week now on my original V2 box and haven't had a single issue with it at all with my setup but there maybe a couple things people won't like but these are my findings.
EPG is great on both north and south providers. You must rescan for this to work as BV is no longer renumbered in the 2 and 3 thousands
PVR is now working make sure you go into your PVR setting and it is set to record TS not PS
faster server connecting
YOUTUBE dose not work
not to sure about the Ethernet issues as I am using wifi and that is working perfect
micro sd card reader no longer is working but both usb are still working properly not worried as I don't use the sd card slot anyway
I will be continuing to test this file as I have bin doing if I start to notice any issues I will comment on them

This is how I did my setup from current bin I was using
1. Backed up my server settings
2. Factory reset
3. installed JynxboxNA_factory_version_v8
4. Factory reset
5. installed JX_NA_Firmware_v251_dual
6. Factory reset
7. installed my server setting from backup
8. setup my lnb setting and scanning sats
9. Bam up and running

Under my system information still shows that I am a V2 Jynxbox

To me this is very important, v2 are originals by birth, some v3 don't convince my criteria.

I followed your steps exactly. I've got major problems...
I backed up my Server Settings and User Database to a USB stick using the front USB port.
NOTE: The server settings file appears as "JX_Server_Setting" without the vcf extension?

I did the Factory reset and tried loading the JynxboxNA_factory_version_v8.bin and I get an "Invalid file" message?
Another Factory Reset.
Next I installed the JX_NA_Firmware_v251_dual.bin file.
Another Factory Reset.
I tried restoring my server settings from the backup. It says successful, but the progress bar shows nothing.
I renamed "JX_Server_Setting" to JX_Server_Setting.vcf" with the same results. No movement of the progress bar but it says successful.
I try exiting the Menus but it says "No Channels"
I set up my 110 sat settings and start scanning 110. Half hour later still not one channel found.
I set up my 119 sat settings and start scanning 119. Another half hour and still not one channel found on it either.
Any suggestions?
Did I miss something?

When loading factory file you use all flash option.

wanna_learn
04-02-2014, 08:47 PM
I did use the All Flash option.
I have signal strength on both south sats over 85%.
System was working good before I tried the v2.51 upgrade.
I went back to v2.43 and still nothing on scans.
I have several serial cables but none are male/female or would try using the PC software loader.
Any other suggestions?

I just retried your steps Skipping # 2 as I've done many Factory Resets, hoping it would work this time, but Step 3 using the "All Flash" option for installing "JynxboxNA_factory_version_v8" fails every time saying 'Invalid file."

I'm stumped... :(

Did you uncompress the file? These file are sometime compressed to a zip file or a Rar file. If that is not the problem try to re-download the file as sometime things get corrupted.

File was unzipped. And I had already downloaded a new file just in case it was corrupted.
And in Network Local Settings the only option I now have is DHCP on or off.
And setting it to on and hitting apply gives me a "No Connection" message?
How did I lose my Network Local Settings options?

This is odd. I could not connect to the server going through a hard wired connection to my router. I plugged in the wifi adapter to the STB and I got an instant connection. I still cannot scan any channels though.

Been testing for 5 days now. Had to load my network setting manually. Seem that with dhcp wouldn't load them. Scan was great but no you-tube. Channel selecting is great. Put 400 in and it will show you 400 on either bev or dn to choose from nice add on. Lots of bugs but work good so far.
Don't know if this will help you but before I load this file I did a factory install of V8 bin. When I did this I click on All Chunk in the loader. After the file was loaded. I then loaded 2.51 bin with my usb stick. Did my server setting then loaded network setting, scanned and picture.

buzzie, that's my next plan. I'll need to find a cable first to connect the STB to the PC. Is it a straight through cable?

OK wanna_learn, To load the factory V8 bin you need to use a straight through rs232 cable connected to your PC with the loader program. I have never been able to load via USB.

Thanks diode.

I have lots of old null modem cables from my days with Coolsats, Viewsats and the others. Guess I'll need to makeup a new cable or run to town in the morning. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'll post my results, good or bad.

Well today I got a RS-232 cable and flashed the v8 bin with no problem.
Hooked up to the TV and wrote the 251 bin to the STB.
Tried setting up sats with same result. High signal strength. Sat is correctly identified by the receiver but scanning gives no results. Tried Factory resets repeatedly and retried with no luck.
Flashed v8 with PC again and tried writing the old 243 bin back on. It shows success but the system info always shows Firmware Version V1.2.51 no matter how many times I try. And scanning sats gives no results, TV or radio.
Can the 2.43 bin be written to the box using the loader software?

Sure you can load 2.23 with the loader. This bin was made to destroy not to fix anything. After all that time without support for the (originals) this thing comes out. Keep testing and posting results. This will reach it's creator.

Did you flash the V8 file in all chunks mode? Did you power cycle after each reset by unplugging the box. (I also recommend that with the unit unplugged that you switch on the back switch and then back off. You will drain the Capacitors that way.) Check your lnb settings .... especially the frequency setting 11250. You should show high signal strength and high quality before you scan. I hope this helps!

I have never been able to load a Firmware file through the loader. I have only been able to load either the Factory file or the Userdata file through the loader. I have always had to load the Firmware file via USB through the receiver, was never able to load Firmware file through loader, it kept on giving message like "chunk too large".

kijiji - I bought a new straight through cable. Flashing v8 works fine. But as 'danny' mentioned is his reply, I get the same error messages as he when trying to flash v2.43 with the loader.

Fibroso - how can I flash the old 2.43 bin back with the loader? I've had no success trying it. Is there a trick to it or a step I'm missing??

Diode - my sat settings are all fine. Signal strength is excellent, the DiSEqC ports are all correctly chosen. The sat I chose matches what the STB sees. I have done all the Factory resets after each step, including hard reboots shutting off the back power switch and unplugging.

Nostradamus - I have checked every detail describing the differences between clones and real boxes and mine is the real deal.

The box worked good until I updated it with v2.51 bin. I'm hoping getting 2.43 back on will solve this but I can't seem to get it to write to it. Any suggestions anyone? HELP!

I don't think loading the 2.43 file with loader is going to work. Try this:

First load the factory file with the loader using All Chunk, then

Connect the receiver back to the TV, and then do factory reset, and then load the 2.43 file to the receiver using USB. See if that works.

Anubis, OK, I downloaded all new files from the location you gave: the loader files, the bins, the guide, etc.

I started the loader, turned on the STB, clicked Connect and it connected to my STB fine.
I select Firmware, double-click, browse to the Clonesafe v2.43 bin and hit Next.
An Upgrade dialog box pops on saying "Select File larger than Slave chunk size. Chunk size 0x00120000"
Same error as before.

I tried again, this time rewriting the v8 factory bin first. I shut down the STB and the loader, unplugged the STB for 10 seconds, then started over. The Factory bin writes flawlessly, with no packet read errors. Got the "Upgrade Success" message.

I shut down the STB and the loader, unplugged the STB for 10 seconds, then started over again to try the 2.39 clonesafe Firmware this time. Same error as before.

I had tried flashing the v8 factory file using the loader then using a USB drive to load the 2.43 bin several times and failed, which is why I reverted to trying to use the loader for v2.43. I read your post again, and before saying I already tried that and failed, I gave it one last try. It worked. Sys Info shows v2.43 again. I set up 110 and it is scanning as I'm typing this and finally finding channels. I have no idea why the first half dozen attempts failed, but I am glad it worked this time. the file is not at fault if you are having freeezing, that is a result of your IKS server or your setup or your dish alignment.

the fact you are not getting HD PPV is due to your IKS server not sending control words for them. You need to ask the guy who sold you codes about that

My problems all started when I tried the new v2.51 firmware. So if I'm not the only one who had problems with it perhaps the new file is not safe for clones. Just a thought for those considering it.

And until yesterday I was sure I had the real deal, not a clone... Mine looks real in every way except for the square corners on the PCB, and one capacitor being shorter than the other two next to the power transformer. So be careful! Check and double-check your STB.

From my testings on this file you have to be running the wireless adapter as the ethernet Port is not working properly

I was able to connect via Ethernet using a static IP, using 2.51. If you still want to use 2.51, and turn off DHCP, make sure the IP that you assign is able to be seen via your router, ie. using the correct gateway, in the correct range and subnet, and using a good DNS address.
