Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) reports that its hauler carrying Graham Rahal’s No. 15 race cars, to be driven during the 2014 season opener at St. Petersburg this weekend, caught fire Monday night.
The fire took place in Louisville, Ky. Yet, thanks to the efforts of transporter drivers Phil Davis and Paul Sheehan, and the Zoneton Fire Protection team, the cars and most of the racing equipment was not damaged.
The cars and equipment are being transferred to another hauler, while the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in the engineering lounge, is still under investigation.
