how do i play video files thats on my external hhd?

I have my external hhd hooked up to my jynxbox, but when i try to access the folder that contains the video/movie file, all i see is ..// . do the files need to be in a particular format, or am i missing something else?

From the media menu open the folder containing the files, then use the FAV button to select video at the top of your screen. You should now see the files. Good luck :)
