First thing is the wifi will not connect to server, the rj45 works fine and the vonets wifi bridge works,
I am testing it on a DPP 3 eye LNB turbo HD dish for the western ark, 110.0w/119.0w/129.0w, the box is warm but
not hot, it is switching sat perfect with no power inserter or extra power of any kind, my amp meter puts the LNB draw
at about 540mA, this jynxbox add does say that the LNB output power is 650mA so it should not burn out the module,
only time will tell.LOL.

Awesome to bad the JynxBox people don't do this upgrade in their STB's and a clone builder does.....anyway happy testing I can't wait to hear more about the testing but the fact that does handle the DPP LNBs with the 650mamps made my day. TurboPirate
Thanks IQ keep up the reports of your testing.

Been testing this jynxbox V5+ clone for 36 HRS now, it does have some small problems, the IR remote cable does not work, if you plug it in the remote does not work at all, but without it the remote works fine.
the remote that came with the receiver is very small and thin, I think I like the remote that came with my jynx V1, BTW it does work
with the clone jynxbox.
The firmware that comes on the V5+ is 3.2.46, I think its the same as the 2.45 file with the clone kill code removed because it
has the same problems that were reported with the 2.45 file, I could be wrong about it being the 2.45 file, but I did read about one
update that had the same problems this receiver has.
As of now I am still happy with the receiver.

Good to know. by the way with my SkyBox S12 I had the same problem with the IR cable and after a few months found out the cable was the bad part tried another cable and it worked, I am not saying this is what is wrong in your case... I will like to try that firmware..... TurboPirate

I think I am going to need to order a cable to get a copy of the firmware, the rs232 cable don't seem to work with the usb adapter and I don't have a computer with the rs232 port, I mite see if I can find a computer at the flea market for 5 or 10 usd,LOL.

Are you trying with NULL cable? the usb to serial cable needs a driver after the driver is installed then you can check with COM port works with the USB to serial cable. TurboPirate

I was using the cable that came with the box and an rs232 to usb adapter, it did not work so I will look for a driver for the usb
adapter.

The driver for the adapter did the trick, I have now dumped the firmware and sent it to a usb drive, I am going to test it to see that it works.
thank you Turbo, I will send you a copy after I test it.

Yep it was a bad IR cable, I just tried the one for my old jynx V1 and it works fine, I will try another wifi and see if that will fix the
wifi problem.

Oh no Iq, it is really thank you my friend. happy to hear the IR cable from another receiver worked. it seems 40% of the new receivers IR cables are dead, it is clear they don't test this cables before sending them with the receivers.
About the WiFi I have to tell you something I notice on this receivers. TurboPirate

Well this is the first time I have ever been able to say this, 6 days of testing a receiver and not one freeze, other than the wifi not
working I cant find any problems.
Is anyone other than me testing this receiver, I would like to know what they think & any problems they are having?

What about the temperature , previous versions run hot (v1, v2 , v3)

Heat is not a problem with this cloned receiver, it has a built in fan and the LNB output power is close to 650mA, it has been hooked
to a DPP 3 eye LNB for 6 days, the box is warm but not hot, the only problem I can find is the wifi don't work.
I have the receiver hooked to the first port of the DPP 3 eye LNB, no power inserter.

The PVR does not work well, when you try to play back you get micro freezing every 30 seconds, I was using NTFS format I will try
FAT format next.
iq180

The PVR works perfect when you format your drive to FAT 32.

In the ebay add it lists a micro SD card slot, it don't have one, on the box it came in the SD card slot is not on the list.
I have been testing this receiver over a week now, I have not seen one freeze, I must say this is the best PS receiver I have
ever tested.
If it holds up and don't burn out its the best money I ever spent,JMO,LOL.

The good thing of all is that it really has a 650ma LNB control wish is perfect for the DP and DPP setup, real happy that you are happy with your new toy. TurboPirate

Iq something I found with many JynxBox via WiFi, a real pain in the back to reconnect after the receiver was turned OFF and then ON with remote control, when I checked the Network settings the IP never changed so what I tried was with receiver OFF rebooted the wireless router when therouter is completely UP then I turn ON the receiver the receiver ggets new IP and server connection is done. When you get the chance try this ti see if you can get the WiFi working. TurboPirate

WARNING,,,,,the power brick is getting to HOT with this receiver, you need to unplug the power brick when you are not using it
or put it on a power strip with a off & on switch and turn it off when you are not using it, turning it off with the RCU don't help.
If you have this receiver, put your hand on the power brick and see if it is hot, it could be that I have a bad power brick, I will see
if I can find another brand of power supply and test it.
PLEASE check yours.

The file that the V5+ has is clone safe............after this review as soon asI can get some money to burn I am buying one just the fact it can handle the DP LNBs without power inserter.
IQ try another power supply with 1 or 2 amps higher. if its 2amps try a 3 or 4 amps

I knew it was a low amp power supply this China dudes need to understand the more features the STB has the more amp the power supply has to be. seeing it all with the AZBox Bravissimo at South America the end users changed the 2 amp for a 4 or 5 amp and the freezing and the over heating went away.....,..,keep up the good work IQ

The heat problem has been solved, found an old laptop power supply, 12 volt 2.5 amp & now the receiver only 1/2 as warm as it was
the power supply is still close to room temp after 3 Hrs, it is now time to get back to the wifi problem & more testing.
TurboPirate

I know you have mention the receiver has no overheating isssues I mentioned the Bravissimo because that one had overheating issues and constant image freezing was all solved with higher amp power supply, some did a fan adapter and when found out about the power supply were afraid to remove the fan and they did both higher power supply and a fan.........I am sure the V5+ will maintain his performance just with the power supply upgrade. I have found a major problem, when the box is on a HD CH for 3 HRs it will overheat and lose signal using DPP LNBs, if I find a fix
for it I will report back.

I don't quite understand how you change a power supply. All boxes I've seen have a PS board with specific DCV outputs via cable to the main board. Do you solder that cable to cables from an external PC power supply?
TurboPirate
05-14-2014, 04:13 PM
Easy, the V5+ has an external power supply just like the cel phone charger, use one with higher amps. TP

Well they must have ran out of oil in china, the fan on the cpu was stuck, I oiled it with some 3 in one oil, now its running mutch
cooler, not as cool as I would like on HD CHs but the JB200 don't burn my finger now.

I now have the wifi working, all it needed was to do a factory reset then reload the DB.
I did do one mod on the fan while I had it out, it has 2 plastic washers under the fan on each screw, I put the 2 washers on the side
nearest to the JB200 module to help send air flow to the JB200.
Warning, if you do this mod the screw without the washer is to long, you need to add a thick washer to the screw before you put it in the fan.
TurboPirate

Excellent idea the Fan mod, you should upload some photos like how to improve fan's flow.TP

Has the Jynx been working good the past few days since your mod? Thinking of getting one and I'm trying to take notes of how well it is keeping up.

It has been running for 4 weeks now on a DN turbo hd dish with 3 eye LNB with no power inserter or extra power of any kind,
the receiver works so well I want it to last for a long time so it will now be hooked to the same dish as my sub receiver that way
the sub receiver can power the LNB and the jynxbox should last for a very long time.

Hi again iq180, thanks to your suggestions I finally bought a V5+, it's running great  BUT I want to mod it with an extra computer fan. Do you know wihch is the procedure for openning the box? As I don't want to experiment and break the box while trying to opening it. As always, thanks again for your time ;) Have a nice day!

There are only 2 screws under 2 rubber pads on the bottom of the receiver.
You will need a 12 volts fan with 2 wires if you are going to change it, I didn't change the fan, I just oiled it and moved the 2
plastic washers to the screw nearest to the JB200 module, WARNING the screw with no washer is to long so you will need to find
another washer to put on the screw then put the screw in the fan or just use a grinder and grind off about 1/16 of an inch from the screw.
So on ebay I searched V5+ HD and got a few hits. Does Jynxbox have a V5? If so how do I know if it's the 650mA clone? Also what OS is the firmware based on?
I have never read on the Jynxbox or tried one but I too like the nice power output to the LNB. They must be using a DC to DC convertor to power the LNB. I have lots of 12VDC 4.5 A PSU from some old thin clients, will have to test this unit in a week I will get one. :)

The V5 lnb output is only 450mA, the V5+ lnb output is 650mA so they are not the same.
I think I made a typo when I said V5. What I am asking is how do I know if the unit on the bay is the 650mA unit or if you want PM me a dealer. Prefer Canada.

If its not a V5+ then it want have 650mA LNB output, in the listing it should say V5+, if it don't have the + then don't buy it,
it should also have V5+ on the box it comes in, just look at the pic of the box in the listing.

Most fan installations including after market prefer the outside cooler air is on the power supply and main chip w/ heat sink, than just evacuating internal air. In this case a blow job is better than a suck job...:tehe:
