Hi All,

I acquired a nFusion HD receiver about a week ago and it will not boot up, when I flip on the power switch on the rear of the receiver the display says BOOT then it runs up to 100% and than the display says RUNNING and just sits there and goes no further than that. The message I get on my HDTV screen is "Mode Not Supported" ...No matter how many times I cold boot the receiver it will not go past RUNNING on the display and "Mode Not Supported" on my TV screen. Did I purchase a defective receiver or am I doing something wrong? Any feedback on my situation here would be greatly appreciated.

Check the power supply Condensors!

Pirate1d: Have you put a bin on it, if not try one found in the files section(a factory file & one of these depending on what you're testing the 24, 25 or 27 bin), and see what happens. If the same thing happens its faulty.

pirate1d: I and others already answered the same question that you posted on another site, you need to take the cover off your receiver and check the capacitors in your power supply. C10 is the one that is usually the culprit. Its about a $2.00 repair if you do it yourself

I pulled the top cover off and all the capacitors look good, I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I did notice that the fan wasn't working so I unplugged the fan and checked the voltage at the fan connector and there is no voltage at the fan connector. So I'm quite sure there is a problem with the power supply board but I'm not sure what it would be since I can't see any signs of a problem component.

The fan doesn't start up until the unit finishes booting, since urs doesn't complete the boot up process...no voltage at the fan is expected. Try loading the factory bin as has already been advised.

the c10 cap is the one that usually goes but if it was the c10 than the receiver would only have the blue light on display working and the op has different a issue as his receiver starts to boot but only goes so far,

how do you have your receiver connected to your tv now?, you could try connecting your receiver with a different video cable hook up, HDMI, component, s-video, composite, set your tv video setting to match and see if that brings up a menu screen or something seeing that you get a "Mode Not Supported" message on your tv set makes me think there could be an issue with the video cable connection,

if you are somewhat technical you could check the voltages from the power supply with a volt meter to help narrow down the problem

Did you change the network settings and the gateway is your IP addy!

How do you do that if the machine does not finish booting?

Well the receiver finally died last night, no display at all anymore just blue LED on. Put my finger on C10 and it was extremely hot to the touch. Looks like the power supply is the problem. Guess I will just order a complete new set of caps with higher voltages and replace them and we'll see what happens.

There is a file "How to Change Capacitors", where you can pinpoint which ones need to be replaced...

Still having issues. I replace C10 and C2 with higher voltage caps, receiver still having the same problem. I pulled the 11 pin connector from the main board to check the output voltages and with the exception of pin 8 the voltages are bouncing all over the place. Pin 2 should be 30V its bouncing between 18 and 24V, pin 4 should be 24V its bouncing between 18 and 20V, all the other pins except pin 8 are giving similar results bouncing up and down. Pin 8 is 5V and I get a steady 5.11 volts with no bouncing. Is my problem more bad capacitors or do I have other problems? Any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any chance you reversed the polarity on one or both of the capacitors when you were doing the repair?

Nope not a chance, polarity is correct on both. I went ahead and ordered a complete set of new good quality caps for it today and I will be replacing all the caps on the PS board in a couple of days, hopefully this will solve my problem, if not I will probably scrap the receiver and look for another. I will let you know what happens.

A lot of the time you'll find NFHD receivers on FleaBay for "parts only" really cheap. Salvage yourself a power supply board and drop it in.
