Audi Sport driver Loic Duval, in the team’s No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, is awake and alert despite suffering a severe accident during Free Practice for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Duval went off at the Porsche Curves and the car sustained serious damage, to be lifted onto a flatbed.
In an interview with Radio Le Mans, Audi’s Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich said Duval was awake and alert. A further tweet from Audi Sport confirmed Duval was alert, and would be transported from the Medical Center to the hospital for further examinations.
Duval’s No. 1 car was second in the session at 3:24.729 at the time of accident, which occurred just over one hour into the session. Practice runs until 8 p.m. local time.
