jynxbox loader

Can't get the jynxbox loader to work,any reason why,i have a two year old laptop,the loader says that the computer has a open port and won't connect,any help would be great,thankyou.

You could possibly need a USB - serial adapter if you don't have a RS232 port on your laptop. A straight through male to female DB9 serial cable is needed. The loader will default to COM1 but it does not mean that you have an open port. To find out if you have any com ports check your device manager in the control panel.

If you are using a usb to rs232 adapter, you need a driver for that adapter, google it & what Bob Loblow said in post #2.

I've had this one for many years, good for everything. Keyspan adapter.

One more thing.
If you are using windows 7 and it says it loaded the driver, that driver will not work with the loader, you need the driver for your
usb to rs232 adapter, I learned this the hard way, the thanks for this info should go to TurboPirate he is the one that helped me with the same problem.

I had to buy a usconverters electronics adapter w/ had the driver cd to instal the drivers on laptop using winblows8 (sucks). Only one that worked for me. Do miss my older laptop w/ win98 w/ serial port. Purchased adapter @ bestbuy 2 years prior. Try

The windows 7 generic driver will not work with your usb to rs232 converter, you need to load the correct driver for your
USB to rs232 converter.
after you load the driver then plug in your USB to rs232, your computer will find the converter, when it does you will get a small
popup window that will say loaded and auto id the com port.

Google the brand name of your USB to RS232 adapter, you should find a free one.
