hey guys

i've had my sat for years the dish 1000 and I had never had problems with the signal.

about a month ago I started losing signal to the channels on 110.

Now i'm losing signal to all my channels on 110 and 119.

so the signal on the sats when I check them through the receiver is 99, but the quality is jumping around from 99 to 0 and every where in between.

the quality does not stay fixed at 99 or 55 or 0 like I said it's just jumping around and I get the picture for a few seconds and then it drops.

like i said i've had the setup for years and never had the problem I have changed the cable, but I still have the same problem

I don't know if it's my lnb or receiver but I doubt that my satellite moved on it's own and the alignment is suddenly off.

just wondering if you guys might have any ideas what the problem would be.

thanks

It could be that the receivers DC power to the LNB's has finally dropped to a level that can't drive the D1000 LNB, the D1000 LNB takes at least 650 mA of DC current to run it.

Your receiver (if you haven't run it with a DC power inserter all these years) may have sustained damage over the years as it may have been just able to run the LNB.

Or something has changed in the system to draw the DC current down to a point where it will not run the LNB's as they should.

Check the coax and connectors and replace if connection looks rusty. Alignment could be off or tree limbs waving in front of dish. If you have done no maintenance on your setup, then now is the time. Could be as little as a lose connection on back of receiver. good luck

changed the cable about 2 weeks ago

the tree that was in front of the dish was trimmed down by the city a few months ago, but before the tree was trimmed it blocked the dish and I never had the problem. Now that's it's not blocking the satellite at all.

Signal is usually steady as that is a connection between receiver and l n b. Quality can vary as that is information from satellite and the strength comes from size of dish and alignment to satellite which is a target you are trying to hit 20 some thousand miles up. If you are sure connections are solid and since you replace coax, check that none of the ground on the coax isn'r touching the centre wire. Then if the dish is readily available have someone watch the television and you push and hold slightly on each corner of the dish. Sometime elevation and skew are off just from constant pounding of wind and weather over the years. If you find an improvement, then loosen slightly, and readjust dish.
Not that I don't think Terrly(previous poster) theory isn't good, I'm just giving you other theory that I would check first. good luck

lol

I turned off the receiver yesterday by the power switch and left it off all day while i was at work.

now when I go to settings and I go to 110 and I enter all the correct settings it tells me that it is sat 119.

I did a data reset and I still get the same thing. 119 sets up correctly, but I still have the same quality problem.

when I select the port for 110 it tells me it's 119.

tomorrow I'm going to take out my old ilink 9500 to see it it gives me the same problems.

Are you using tp 12224 for 110?

Either dish moved westward or internal switch for lnbs is not switching or lacking power (voltage) from receiver to drive lnbs. If you have a volt meter and knowhow to use, you could measure inline to see if your voltage from receiver to lnbs is adequate.

you know what I don't know what to do now.

I just got home turned on the receiver 119 is at 99 on signal and quality.

the setup that wasn't getting 110 yesterday, is not getting 110 and the signal and quality is 99

and all the channels are working and they are not pixelating or losing signal.

and I didn't do anything after I gave up last night besides just turning of the receiver

so maybe it's the receiver that's dying on me cause it's an old premier 360 and I'm only using cause I started have problems with my ilink last year

OK, you have a Dish 1000 LNB, are you using a DC power injector to run it?
