extreme receiver trouble

every once and a while my box freezes and the screen turns green when I press the guide button. it used to happen once in a blue moon but it is happening more and more. what could the prob be. should I factory reset and reprog box.

With old receivers you have to think that there is a good chance the power supply is going bad. In my experience you almost never have to reset and reprogram a box. It is also possible that there is a problem on the coax--a short would be something to look for so walk the cable and give it a visual inspection.
