Yes you can hook up a 3rd receiver with the DPP 44 switch, and the DPP44 switch needs to use the power inserter, so you will be only able to use 3 of the 4 reciver ports on the switch, the #1 port needs to have the DC power inserter on it.

I can hook up a 3rd receiver (old coolsat) and use a dp44 with a power inserter. If I use the dp 44 will it reduce the chance of potential damage on the receiver using the power inserter?

Yes and yes.

I have a linkbox 8000 hd local , i have a 1000.2 dish , i am pointing at 110-119-129, i have ls-500 installed, i have good signal on both 110 and 119 and I am also able to receive the HD channels on 110 and 119 (so the LS500 is working). I have 2 Linkbox 8000HD Locals hooked up to this dish, the other Linkbox has an LS400 that is working properly, but neither Linkbox is able to receive a signal on the 129 sat.

My settings are as follows:

LNB Freq DishPro LNB(11250)
Transponder (31/42) 12515 V 2000
DiSEqC1.0 Port 3
DiSEqC1.1 Disable
22k off
Polarity Auto
Multi SW None
Motor DisEQC Disable

There are no obstructions around the dish and it points to clear sky

Any help in getting this to work correctly will be greatly appreciated.

Try 12414 or 428 to see if you get signal

your pan may be pointed too far east.

I have tried every tp with no signal including 12414 and 124218. I have also tried tweaking the dish but no signal. In looking at other forums about this subject there is mention of not enough voltage for sat 129 and the suggestion is having 2 receiver hooked up to the dish. But even with the 2 receivers hooked up still no signal! I am just wondering if this is a problem with the Linkbox or the Linkbox software? If anyone out there is receiving sat 129 with a Linkbox 8000 or 8000 local it would be great if you could post your settings so I can give it a try here. It is so frustrating!

The LNB on 129 is about 1" - 2" higher than 119!

This is a picture of the dish I have. It is set at the correct skew, is level and has been tweaked for 110 and 119 but still cannot get 129. The 129 is about 1 1/2 inch difference taking the skew into account.

ok ... try thinking outside the box, in post 3 I am suggesting that you may be pointed too far east...what I mean is that your 129 LNBF is hitting 119 and your 119 LNBF is hitting 110.

Oh yes already thought of that. When I tweaked the dish I put tin foil around the 129 and 110 lnb only allowing the signal to go to 119. That is why I am thinking it may be a problem with the ability of the Linkbox 8000 series to see the 129 sat, so frustrating!

The LNB on 129 is about 1" - 2" higher than 119!

This all depends on where you live in relation to the Clark belt, mine is just about level with the 110 and 119 LNB's, on the East coast it will be higher.

Two FTA receivers will not power the triple D1000 LNB, only a Dish 301 or higher receiver or the DPP 44 switches power inserter will, there are a few FTA recivers that will directly power the D1000 LNB and yours is not one of them.

So in my case using the Linkbox8000HD Local's I will need a dp44 switch? Is that correct?

No not the switch but it's DC power inserter, and it has to be run to the #1 port on the LNB on it's own coax, most FTA receivers don't like the power inserter in-line with them.

hook up to port 3, that one is for sat 129, you don't need a power inserter to get reception, you only need it to switch to a channel on a different sat, you should be able to get a reading if you are aimed correctly, use transponder 12.518 to find the sat.

I did an install last week for a guy with 3 Linkbox 8000 HD and a Dish 1000.2, added the DPP power inserter. So I can confirm that these receivers work in tandem with the power inserter.

Well the receiver hooked through the power inserter may be OK for now, but over time there could be damage to the receiver LNB power supply.

So I hate to tell you that it may work now but who knows how long the one receiver may last.

The inductive and DC load on the DC power inserter is just not right for the FTA receivers LNB input port, it is to be used with a Dish Nutwork receiver, the dish receiver detects the power inserter and adjusts it self to this load.

The FTA receiver can't, also the receiver inline with the power inserter will have 3 to 6 DB less signal then the rest, this can affect that receiver during a weather fade.

For more then 2 receivers it is best to use the DPP 44 switch. this will give you 3 ports for receivers and the main for the power inserter, you can also stack 2 more DPP 44 switches for a total of 9 receivers.
