Lucian Bute to be trained by Freddie Roach InterBox and Lucian Bute (31-2-0 24 KOs) have announced that the Romania native will continue his career and his training under trainer of the year Freddie Roach and his team. A few weeks ago, while Lucian was visiting California, the famous trainer got to see him in action. Impressed by what he saw, and being confident in Bute’s abilities, the alliance between Freddie Roach and the Laval resident naturally came to fruition.
“It’s an honor for me to benefit from the advices of a renown trainer. I have the intention to give everything I have to come back strong in the ring for my fans and the boxing supporters,” said Bute. He will join Manny Pacquiao’s training camp in the Philippines. This training camp is held for Manny Pacquiao’s November 22th bout vs Chris Algieri in China. The goal is to continue working on his technique and also continuing his own preparation for his return scheduled in the next few months.
For InterBox president, Jean Bédard, Bute’s arrival on the team of Freddie Roach represents a new step “Knowing that after a few months of research, the answers were positives for Lucian, and with all the talent that we know he has, Roach seems like the man of the situation. I am more than enthusiast when I look at his future. He still has excellent years in front of him and it’s the occasion for him to take a new burst.”
December 6th is the date on which Bute will make his return in the ring at the Bell Centre. The details concerning this gala will be known soon.

Lucian Bute has “a lot of tools,” according to the veteran’s new trainer Freddie Roach, who will work his first bout with the former IBF super middleweight titleholder on Dec. 6 when Bute returns against an opponent to be determined at Bell Centre in Montreal.
A 34-year-old who has lost two of his past three fights, Bute dropped a unanimous decision to former titleholder Jean Pascal in a light heavyweight bout at Bell Centre in January.
Prior to facing Pascal, Bute (31-2, 24 knockouts) scored a unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten light heavyweight Denis Grachev in November 2012 that followed his fifth-round stoppage loss to Carl Froch in May 2012.
“I’m surprised that the guy didn’t win his last fight. He’s got a lot of tools, and he just has to put it together,” said Roach of Bute in a statement from Interbox to RingTV.com.
“The boxers that I pick are very few. They have to show me a lot of determination, a lot of work ethic. I don’t like lazy people. The only thing that I’m watching is about their dedication and Lucian is one of those guys.”
Bute plans to join WBO welterweight titleholder Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines in advance of Pacquiao’s Nov. 22 defense against rising WBO 140-pound beltholder Chris Algieri in Macau, China.
