22675Ok.. I have a Sonicview HD8000 receiver.
I want to install a Dish 500+ dish, with a Dish Pro Plus LNBF (WITH internal Switch)
This is the black sat dish.
Since the sonicview has a known weak power supply, can I run it all to a DPP44 switch with power inserter?
I want to run 110, 118, 119 and 129 (4 sats)
If I understand correctly, I can run output 1 (119) output 2(110) and output 3(118) to the switch on ports 1-3
Then do NOT connect the 129 LNB to the LNB input on the LNBF, but rather to the DPP44 switch on port 4
This I am told ??Should?? work?
Is that correct?
Or...
Could I JUST use my DPP44's Power inserter with NO DPP44 installed to power up the LNBF?
Then run one Coax to my receiver?
I have all the parts.. so I don't care about price.. just the best way to go/most robust way to go..
Many people say do NOT just run one coax to the receiver, as the Sonicview will not hold up trying to power 4 LNBFs
A power inserter is the minimum I should do..
Is that correct?
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.
Oh.. just to be clear, I have a triple LNBF.. with the 2 oval shaped feed horns.
I was told it did 119, 110, and 118.. you put a bracket on and add a 4th lnb for 129
And YES .. it has the internal switch I want to bypass.. (to use a DPP44 with)
Here is a photo of what my LNBF looks like
(note the 4 taps.. 3 receivers.. one LNB in)

Thanks

you just need the power inserter hooked up to port 1

So I can just run LNBF's port 1 to the IRD through the power inserter, and NOT put in the DPP44?
That will get me all the sats and use the internal switch?
Or do you mean that my config with the DPP44 is ok.. just make sure I don't forget the power insertion thing.
I don't even think you'll need the power inserter with this lnb. My Birdog meter has no problem powering this lnb by itself, while on the 1000.2 lnb the meter cannot be used without another power source.
Also have a friend who sells Dreambox's, says they have no problem running on this lnb by themselves.

If he needs to run 4 sat's he will need the DC power inserter, the normal FTA receiver cant run but 2 LNB's and a switch at the same time.
They are limited to 500 mA, most DP LNB's are arounf 200 mA, add the LNB's together and add about 50 to 75 mA for the switch and you could go over the 500 mA allowed for the LNB power.
If you only running 1 receiver and you have an external switch with 4 separate LNB's then you may get buy.

Can I Just use the power inserter that comes with the DPP44 by itself? Or is the voltage etc different... and the DPP44 must be installed.
I am running 4 LnBFs ..to one receiver... I had trouble running 3 in the past with the Sonicview DH8000. And also have cooked 2 power supplies (having to recap them)
So either a power inserter... or the DPP44 (which I already have anyway) with its power inserter.

Both Terry and I have answered your question.

Terry he is right on the need switch and power inserter mine is the four with the big eye shaped lnbf in the middle and it sucks the power I am running two sonicviews and both are not enough remember on the 44 switch there is a place on it to connect the power inserter so do it correctly and also remember that the 44 switch does not use electricity to make the switching on the different sats it only uses gravity so make sure the arrow on the front of the switch is pointing up to the sky and good luck .......
(also make sure you have your receivers un-pluged before playing with the power inserter you can blow your finals on the sonicview and get to replace all the capasitors on the power board .............

??????????? Gravity ???????????? the only thing with gravity on the satellite is that it keeps them in orbit around us, the arrow means that the switch must be mounted that way to make sure that water does not enter the output ports for the receivers.

you are probably right about the gravity I have read that the switching is gravity not electric on about every site but what do they know I have been wrong before but as long as he points it to the sky he aint going to go wrong ......no argument here .......show
