Setting up my new 3000 I just bought, following the downloaded setup.pdf, First installed factory file 2014/03/20, then factory reset & then the latest file 2014/08/20, factory reset again, scanned, but a few channels missing especially from 129. Not a biggy.... yet.
However the big problem is when I go into server settings it only accepts partial information & the rest is left a bunch of *'s no matter what. When I select save & return & go back in, the setting is back to the sample & nothing was saved. Port # & User ID are shown & it indicates Active status of on or off but everything else, that is: Server URL, password, Deskey, all that is just a list of *s.
Also it fails to connect to any server.
Maybe I downloaded the wrong file or something.

The lastest file for the Mega can be located here:
http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?166068-New-Public-File-26-08-2014
If I remember right when you go in to input your server info you have to be real careful making sure to type it in correctly because once you hit enter all you will see is ***** on certain info and you have no way of seeing it...so if it doesn't connect you just have to reenter the info again. Just a suggestion but you could install a file such as this one:
http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?164032-MegaTVI_20140714_SU_NA_C4_1TUNER_2GB_TURBO
After words you could use the option below:
http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?164027-Mega-TVi-SHD3000-Web-Broswer-Server-Configuration
and make sure you have all your info correct or edit if you need to...then once you have all the info correct see if it connects and if so factory reset and load the newest file 8044 (http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?166068-New-Public-File-26-08-2014)...and then scan your birds and you should be good to go. From what I've seen loading files with the Mega...once you have your sever info typed in and saved loading newer files will not erase it so you won't have to keep reentering it.
On the missing channel thing that could be a number of things causing that so it would have to be a process of elimination.

Thanks, I'll play with it tonight. I see the public server file you mention as the latest file, is the same kind of file as the others that have a year/month/day name. I guess the 20140714 file you mention might be better than the newer 20140820 I already installed
I think I tried the configuration url yesterday, I might have another go at it.

As a rule I always run the newest file out with an stb which in the case would be the 8044...for some reason the 8044 from my read doesn't still have the option to get into the configuration like some of the older files do so you could load the older file and setup the server info save and then load the 8044...iptv seems to be working with this file but not with the older versions. I've tried several times to get the configuration screen to come up on my pc with the 8044 but still no luck.

I loaded the 8044 file & had no problem setting up my servers, donno why I couldn't before. Did close to the same thing this time.
Also the ip address refuses to come up, so I haven't been able to attempt any configuration that way.
So, must do a 'Factory Setting' in System Recover before & after any change in file?

Did you go into the internet settings under utilities and see what is showing with your ip? They recommend doing a factory reset before loading files but I've done with out...guess it is users choice.

yes I got into the config page when the 2014/07/14 file was installed as you noted & all my server info was good to go & many hd channels on 129 are working- but also I noticed that much, not all, of the iptv weren't listed. Afterwards I factory reset & installed the 8044 & got all the iptv but in scanning 129 I notice that there is still only 247 channels & CNN & likely a few others aren't listed. So that problem persists. Maybe I will just try scanning specific tp's but that shouldn't be needed if nothing's wrong. Anyway, donno if I'm gonna fix it tonight but if you have any hints I could try them soon, thanks

If you are missing a lot of the horizontal tp's then you could have a power issue...mine would not scan in some of the tp's plus would not push my motor...seen where other's had a similar issue and they said bumping up the amps solved there problem...so I bought another adapter and bumped up the amps and it solved both problems on mine...may or may not be your problem but I thought I would throw it out there as a possibility. I would have to look at it again but I think the adapter that came with it was 1a...I bought a 2.5a off fleabay for mine.

Yes the adapter that came with it is says "output: 12v 1.2A" so I should get one that says 2.5... but there are a lot of other spec #s on those things... I guess I'll just find one that's similar except for the boost in output. I have a whole bag of them here, I never throw them out for some reason. lol

I found a a 2A but hasn't seemed to make much difference.

You ARE talkin' bout the a/c power converter that came with the box, right?

I think there was an issue with how the 8psk tuner plugged into the coaxial. I would have assumed it was just my coaxial cable but for the last few days it's connected to my Jynxbox just fine. It might have had something to do with the way the centre wire meets the connector inside. If I unscrew it the s/q jumps to 97% from 66% & then I just screw it back in & it usually maintains the 97% on all sats. However if I exit Dish Setting it almost always reverts to 66%. Most channels come in though so I can live with it for now.
The one remaining issue however is it won't see anything on Sat 129, # 12472. TP 18 I guess it's called. So none of the channels including CNN HD 9436 will come in. I have tried scanning just that tp but no luck, nothing comes up. Would you have any suggestions- Are there other settings I could tweek?
THere might be others too but 12472 is the one I have noticed.

Yep that is correct...below are some of the specs off the one I bought which was used and cost about $10 give or take...I've been running this adapter for a few months now without issue but who is to say long term if using more amps will cause some kind of internal problem and then the stb will fail sooner than it should...just something to keep in mind:
DELTA ELECTRONICS, INC. POWER SUPPLY ADAPTER
12V DC 2.5A
Approx 5.5mm x 2.0 plug with tip positive (+)
AC to DC
Model # EADP-30FB A

Nothing that comes to mind or I've read...if I come up with something that may help resolve the issue I will post later. When I got mine and hook it to the motor and then went in to set up and scan the stb would go into a constant reboot...then I would have to unplug it to stop it and reset. I did a bypass or loop threw another stb but it would not scan in the horizontal tp's for some reason...so I decided to try more amps with the adapter and all is good so far...but your issue could be caused by something totally different...hard to run these things down sometimes...and it's just a process of elimination.
On the 12472/129 I'm getting about 93 Q&S with my motor and 18" combo...but I'm located in the lower 48 about midways on the east coast side.

Well I'm in downtown Toronto but the dishes are high up & nothing in the way so that shouldn't be an issue. No motor. In encountering this with other past boxes sometimes missed channels would appear when scanning their individual tp's but that hasn't worked. The newer stb's don't allow as many setting adjustments. Maybe there's a channel file to download somewhere.
I haven't done an accurate list of missing channels but it's also missing 9525 & 9526. There's a lot more.
The Megatv scans awfully damn fast so I suspect that in it's speed it's missing a few. Seems that way.
Would you know offhand, how to get the channels to list according to sid? thanks

There are two options in the search menu...Service Name Scan and Network Search...from what I've seen if you leave the options off it will do a complete scan in about 3 minutes give or take...if you turn the options on it will do a complete scan in about 25 minutes give or take. From my read leaving it on or off doesn't cause it to skip channels or not scan completely but some of the channels may not be named correctly...that possibly could be throwing you scan off...you could try it both ways and see. On the sid from what I can tell the Mega does that on it's own. Threw in a screen shoot but I'm not the best with a camera lol.

Now it lists DN & Bev all jumbled together in no order for either. I will scan again first with 'Service Name' & see if that makes a difference.
In most boxes there is an option to sort channels in different ways: alphabetically, by tp, or by sid which is preferred as it's channel #s. I couldn't successfully do that yet.

So I scanned 129 with Service Name & it did take about twice as long but I only got 214 channels vs the usual 246. CNN still missing & likely more than a few others. So that doesn't seem to be the answer. I also went into scanning the H & V separately but that brought nothing new up, especially in tp 12472.
btw last night I also switched the box to the kitchen here which has a different coaxial & separate disecq to the same set of lnb's- just to see if it had to do with the cable & disecq to my bedroom but no difference noted.

Sadly I can no longer get bev...to far south and out of the footprint so I'm not sure if this will work the same for bev as it does for dn but give this a try for lining the channels back up...while viewing a channel hit ok on the remote once in that channel menu you will see some options at the bottom of the screen which will be the third one from the left...press the yellow button on the romote and then press the number 0 on the number pad of the remote...if it works like with dn it should put the channels back in order...I was messing around with mine and got the channels out of order and keep playing around till I found a way to line mine back up lol. Seen some other channel options in there but that one seem to get things lined back up.
The only thing I can figure on the tp issue is it either being a power issue or possibility being a bad sk200 board...not sure if you bought local or not but if you did they maybe willing to switch one out to see...maybe worth a try. :noidea:
On the 129 I get around 429 chnl wise give or take so seems like you are only getting about half the channels you should be getting.

The S & Q for most sats is around 97% though with 129 it starts off about 66% & then improves after watching a while- so I doubt that it's a power issue.
I bought the stb with the sk200 included off Ebay from a small distributor in London ON area. On site it says specifically no returns so I guess I'm outta luck. As he did include the sk200 I guess he wants to keep it low profile.
Is there a preferable source or type of sk200 to get? With some they recc to buy one a certain color or model # or supplier...

Most of the ones I've seen on fleabay come with the sk200 (red board)...although there is one reseller that say their's will be shipped with the red or green sk200. They do sell a sk200 (green board) as well but I'm not sure it works with the mega...if the connector and pins are the same then I would assume it would...not sure what the difference is between the two...from what I've seen looking at them both on fleabay they both say rev 0.5...the only thing I can figure is the green board may have came out first. If I was looking to get another one I would pull the one I have installed now and get the info off it and find a matching sk200 off fleabay...price wise they are all close to the same...as far as a supplier it is buyers choice. But again buying another board may not even solve the issue...hard to say.
