How to change computer MAC Address

hi guys i need your help, which program i have to download to change computer WinXP_SP2 MAC Address, sothat no one can trace/track my computer.

So I want to download a software program which hide my MAC Address to not get trace/track.

Your computer doesn’t have a MAC address, only your network interface device has one, if the card is built in you don’t want to change it, if you have a plug in card you can change it by buying a new one and swapping them around or using a router you could clone a MAC address from a plug in card to the router then swap it out for a new one.

However this will not hide you from someone looking for you via the internet, if someone like a law enforcement agency wants to find you all they have to do is record your IP address (supplied by your ISP) get a warrant and go to your internet service provider and ask for your home address.

i am using kbox pro i read the threads shows they can trace/track ip address mac address etc. so i need a program which can shows there fake address. this all for safe side.

like terryl has said you cannot hide, bottom line. You can use proxies, etc but they will still find you if they really want to...there is no such program that can hide you completely if they want to find you...good luck.

The mac addy is only used from the last router to you, so you can change your mac all you want and your exposed IP address is going to be the same. Want to change your mac address? Buy another network card.

If you proxy, the SERVER you are connecting to doesn't get your official IP address however the proxy DOES. A proxy only hides your IP address from the server.

Using a proxy simply ads one more link in the chain required to trace your real IP address. It doesn't hide anything.

If you want to not be traced then you need to lead who ever a stray.
If I was in your shoes and wanted to go IKS then I would modify a linksys router. Turn it into a repeater. Hack the neighbors wireless or better yet find one that is not secure and repeat his signal to your house.
Put the IKS on that network instead of your own.

Ya just need to be in range. Might be hard from some people and where they live. I know where I live there is about 10 to choose from.
Wireless is very popular here because the ISP we have ship their modems with wireless abilities.

Don't be so naive to think that because you use someone elses wireless signal that they couldn't find you if they wanted :rolleyes:

thsi subject has been beat to death .. new people come on and have no clue .. medium level people share and lead people a stray.

simply put ..

EVERY NETWORK card in the WORLD has a unique MAC address .. it is hard coded when it is made PERIOD.


IP addresses are asigned to the card and u can change them ever second but the MAC is the MAC

level 3 routing really uses MAC address ... as in a good switch corporate switch.

the mac and the ip are BOTH used in routing ... yea yea i know someone going to say i used tracert and it only shows IP addreses .. try using packet sniffer ..

google "OSI model" ... to get a real understanding of whats up


google YOUR IP address of your router on the ISP/WAN side see what comes up ..
