Kimi Raikkonen, the 2007 Formula One World Champion, told CNN earlier this week that he wouldn’t mind running some more NASCAR races once he retires from Formula One.
“I really enjoy the whole NASCAR thing,” said Raikkonen, who ran a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and a NASCAR Nationwide series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2011.
“It’s just completely different and fun. It was a good experience.
“Hopefully I can do more [races] someday. I’ve said I’d like to do some more rallies in the future.”
Raikkonen added that he “will finish my [F1] career in Ferrari.
“I have a contract for next year and probably for one more year,” revealed Raikkonen who, at 35, is currently the oldest driver on the Formula One grid.
“I’m not a young guy anymore,” continued Raikkonen, who began his Formula One career in 2001, “I want to do something more with my life than just Formula One.”
During 2014, Raikkonen has consistently been outpaced by his Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso.
The Finn currently sits 12th in the 2014 Formula One standings with a season-high finish of fourth at the Belgian GP.
