FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- A wintry mix has blanketed the playing surface at Gillette Stadium in the hours leading up to Sunday's highly anticipated AFC clash between the visiting Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.

With temperatures in the mid-30s, it is cold and there is also significant wind whipping through the stadium, with the orange flags atop the goal posts fluttering. A wind advisory for Foxborough had previously been issued through 6 p.m. ET.
A plow came onto the field shortly after 12 p.m. ET to begin the process of removing snow.
Meanwhile, a tarp was not placed on the playing field, which potentially could lead to a slick FieldTurf surface by the time the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff arrives. At the same time, local forecasts are predicting that precipitation should be over by that time.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a 32-4 regular-season record when the temperature is 40 or below. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is 8-7 in the regular season in those conditions.
