And to add to kenkell's remark, after you're done formatting your hard drive slip out and buy a good antivirus. good luck

might be ways around it and it could also mean a new computer as well... depends where the thing has infected stuff. Some of them go right to the BIOS in which case unless you are lucky enough to be able to flash the bios and get rid of it that way you are looking at a new motherboard

On situations like this, I remove the infected hard drive and do an external AV/Malware/Spyware sweep on it.

All you need is an IDE/SATA to USB interface (Google for one, they are cheap) and a second PC or laptop to do the sweep with, I use Avast on a laptop and the external drive can then be swept in it's entirety, this keeps you from loosing all the good data that may be stored on that drive if you re-format it.

Some of the newer PC's and laptops don't come with the OS recovery software unless you order it, or made a recovery disk when it was new, you also may not have recovery software for programs you have downloaded.

So turning it into an external USB drive may save all your stuff and get rid of that pesky junk.

You need to boot it up in safe mode with networking then go online and download Malwarebytes, then do a full scan.

Had that on mine before, Its the UKash/Randsom virus, dependent on how old the virus is sometimes Malwarebytes misses it

I used the Kaspersky AV rescue disk and it got rid of it in about an hour, it also gets rid of any other nasties on your PC. It will put your PC back to where it was before you got the virus.

Download the ISO on another PC and then using something like ISO burner, Toast or Imageburn make the rescue disk. Boot the PC from the disk and then leave it to do its thing. It takes about an hour but it does get rid of it.

This may also help.
