router stop working when turn on laptop

i hope somebody an help me I bought a new laptop for my parents and when I bought it its working just fine so I gave to my parents in their home when he turn on the laptop the router stop working and no internet at all anybody know how to fix it . his laptop is Toshiba and router is Linksys this is the first time its happening so plase somebody help me thanks

See if there are any updates for your router. If problem persists, I would purchase a better router, make sure you can return the router if it does not solve your issues. Let us know how you make out.

Under DEVICE MANAGER>NETWORK ADAPTERS, check to see if there are settings for 'WAKE UP CAPABILITIES' modes under both adapters. Set as appropriate.

How are they connecting the laptop to the router?

Via WIFI or a LAN cable? (cat-5)
