Ray Rice has been banned indefinitely from the NFL for having punched his then fiancee (now his wife) in a hotel elevator.

Jian Gomeshi, a star broadcaster, was recently fired by the CBC for alleged violent assault of women, which he claims to be "consensual".

New revelations about Bill Cosby's sex assaults against young women have now tainted the reputation of the man who was once admired as "Everyone's Dad".

USA TODAY just released an hour ago, an exclusive interview of JOSIE HARRIS, Mayweather's children's mother and ex-wife. What was revealed in the interview is far more damning than what Mayweather admitted in a plea bargain that earned him a 90-jail sentence. She stated that she has been a "battered woman". Even Koraun Mayweather, his son, disclosed incredible facts about Mayweather's domestic violence. In addition, a lawsuit was filed by Shantel Jackson, former girlfriend, claiming great cruelty including keeping her as a "virtual prisoner".

Domestic violence and assault against women has become a focal point in today's society and the consequences against those alleged to have committed these crimes have been severe.

Although Josie Harris had refused to testify against Mayweather (for the sake of her children), the Judge was not swayed and imposed the 90-day jail sentence.

THE QUESTION:

With what had happened to Ray Rice (lifetime ban from football); the humiliation of Jian Gomeshi and Bill Cosby; Mayweather's release after serving only two months of the 90-day jail sentence is a mere slap on the wrist in comparison. Thereafter he was allowed to earn several millions of dollars fighting Alvarez and Maidana. Moreover, adoring fans seem oblivious to the cruelty (that has now been revealed) this man had committed against the mother of his children.

1) Is this good for boxing?
2) Is a Boxing "Super Star" exempt from the immorality and criminality that other celebrities are severely punished?
3) Is it right for this "celebrity culture" to turn a blind eye on domestic violence and assault against women?

Note: Google Mayweather and USA TODAY for the story

Yes he should his punishment should be 12 rounds with Manny Pacquiao!
Domestic violence belongs in a courtroom not ones job or career!

Ray Rice's banishment from football impacts his current and future earnings. All of this is from one single violent incident caught on video. It is a very strong statement by the NFL on their stance against such cruelty. CBC fired their "super star" Q broadcaster over unproven allegations of sexual misconduct involving violence against women - also a very stern statement against mistreatment of women.

Yet SHOWTIME and BOXING have remained completely silent on the issue. HBO's Jim Lampley had raised the issue in a recent broadcast inferring that Mayweather should have received punishment farther than a 60 day jail sentence; that BOXING as a SPORT shames itself for ignoring the gravity of the issue.

Violence and cruelty against women is not merely a legal or criminal issue to be tried in court. It is a sick SOCIAL and moral issue that impacts the fabric of our perception of equality and justice. It shapes behavior and sets a poor example that our children are bound to emulate.

Besides, when a "sport super personality" gets away with such crime, it creates a perception that "having millions of dollars" gives one an excuse, no, a right, for abhorrent anti-social behavior. Our society is getting sicker by the minute!

Not sure that no one oversees boxing. Always thought that every state has its official athletic commission under which boxing is regulated. For example, it is not the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) that issues licences to boxers to grant them the right to participate in boxing?

There are other things that are now being questioned and the bubble may soon burst. The president and CEO of CBS corporation oversees a vast media empire that includes CBS and SHOWTIME.....and CBS televises NFL games.

It gets more convoluted. Imagine this: (1) NSAC did not suspend Mayweather's licence after his conviction (2) the sentencing judge DELAYED his jail term so that he can fight Miguel Cotto (3) SHOWTIME aired the ALL ACCESS documentary where Donavan Cameron and Hasim Rahman Jr. were shown fighting for "31 minutes" where Mayweather says on camera "The dog house; the rules are you fight till whoever quits. Guys fight to death. It's not right, but it's dog house rules." In addition, several women were shown rolling joints and smoking marijuana. When questioned about this, MAYWEATHER LIED!

Imagine, SHOWTIME showing what is purported to be a "real life documentary" BUT Mayweather says that it is "all for show" (not true)!

Can you now imagine this mess? These episodes (involving Mayweather and his problems [domestic violence; lack of truthfulness and respect; etc.] raise the severe issue of CREDIBILITY of the NSAC, the court system, and places SHOWTIME and CBS in a most embarrassing situation. They have been played for fools by a single person who continues to be allowed to be in the limelight, and continues to escape serious consequences for all his abberation.

Now they are calling for the Nevada Governor to intervene. They are also calling for Les Moonves (president/CEO of CBS Corporation) to evaluate if SHOWTIME has deceived its subscriber and the general public. Imagine 5 NSAC commissioners....and you and I (the public), are all being misled and taken for fools.

What you say about Liston, Giardello, and a few others (you could add Tyson, too) is all true....but... we have all come a long way from building fire with sticks. We have gone from being barbaric to being civil and diplomatic. In short, as a generation of people, we are sickened by beheadings, and rape of innocent young girls. With your arguments, which is probably how many people feel, we, as bystanders, have allowed Boxing to continue to be in a quagmire....and all because of our insatiable thirst for blood - which is what translates to mega millions.

Mayweather once talked about "cleaning up boxing"! Yeah, right! Why not clean up your act first, boy!

Boxing is a "sweet science" and there is a lot of room for raising its standard. Glolovkin, Kovalev, Klitschko, Jon Jones, GSP, and perhaps others like Pacquiao, Bradley, and Algieri, are all involved in a brutal sport but none of these athletes disrespect their respective sport with aberrant behavior. They contribute positively to the sport through their skills, respect for each other, and sportsmanship.

Bernard Hopkins in the past, had his trouble with the law, was crude, and was known for his dirty tactics. But as his stature in the sport has risen to galactic proportions for his latest accomplishments, he has evolved into a gracious well-behaved and spoken gentle person. He recognizes how valuable his achievements are and is accepting his influence and mentorship for other struggling young boxers to give them hope for success. That is progress - the sign of wisdom and maturity.

Your conclusion that having millions entitles anyone to commit crime and get away with it is wrong! As well, there is no statute of limitation for any crime, murder, rape, or assault. In short, if evidence points to crime committed whether it is 3 month or 30 years ago, the perpetrator is held liable regardless of his age!

There is nothing fishy about these allegations of rape and sexual assault. Cosby's fame and fortune is well documented as well as his inclination and sexual craving for young girls. It is just that during those years (25-35 years ago), sleeping with a celebrity or producer was a well known and accepted behaviour to get ahead. That was when women were subservient to men...when reporting a rape meant incredible humiliation. Even today when equality between men and women is enshrined in the constitution, rape victims are still discriminated against. How? One simple word: "consent"! Cards are stacked up against rape victims, as clever defendent's lawyers readily destroy a woman's credibility through vicious cross examinations.

But does that make it right? Think of these women as one of your daughters and tell me how you'd feel!

Always trying to get over the man, sportsmen select him as the number 1 boxer in the world. Makes more money than anybody and still undefeated. Guess that can cause jealousy to some, to the point o trying to hurt him some other way.

No, they don't have to; we simply transform them into something just as wonderful. George Foreman was one of boxing's greats but now he transformed himself into a marketing genius! Good things come to those with good hearts!

oh...and welcome back, pal!
