When I was curious about i p t v I used google.

CP/

Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is a system through which television services are delivered using the Internet protocol suite over a packet-switched network such as a LAN or the Internet, instead of being delivered through traditional terrestrial, satellite signal, and cable television formats.

does any one no how IPTV work,

IPTV put simply, is streaming television. Same as downloading a movie. Works and consumes as much data as Netflix would. Unless you've got Unlimited Usage from your ISP, then IPTV isn't for you.

Better start reading up on this because who knows how long IKS is going to last.

Not true, just make sure you have enough bandwidth to allow a streaming service and do not leave the device on TV all day and all night. Check with your service provider to see what they have as far as a "cap" goes, really does not use more than what Netflix does.

you can also control the amount of bandwidth used to a certain extent by selecting a lower resolution. No sense in downloading a file in 1080 if your tv only supports 720 for example. Like anything else you need to apply some common sense if you are concerned with bandwidth. Like Dishuser is saying though, if your dataplan is capped at 20GB per month or something like that you are not going to watch much HD tv before you blow that cap through the roof

I use 20gigs in one day sometime. I use about 250-350 gigs a month.

You must have at one time or another watched something from youtube. That is similar to i p t v. Only difference is there are boxes for sale that have different content which you stream to your television or computer. Copy and paste in address bar.

Some providers charge $5.00 a month for unlimited band width and IPTV is advertised at $30.00 a year!

Is there an IPTV section here at Satfix?

I don't know a thing about IPTV, and would like to know what equipment to buy to start testing.

There is a dedicated IPTV forum through one of the other main FTA sites, Google will get you there :)

Sorry it's actually a dedicated IPTV site through one of the other main FTA sites.

Correct me if I'm wrong, so basically once this iptv service comes out then my current svhd8000 with satellite dish is obsolete and won't work anymore? I don't like the idea of this new iptv eating up your bandwidth. Will we still be able to use our satellite dishes to watch tv?

You can test their service on a PC without a STB for their Vod movies, 260+ movies are now playing,no tv channels yet . Need bluestacks, stb emulator and MX-player.

It looks like they are focusing on SD channels right now, HD seems to be a "down the road" thing
