Emerson Fittipaldi will make his racing return at the wheel of an AF Corse Ferrari in next weekend’s FIA WEC season-ending Six Hours of Sao Paulo.

The 67-year-old motorsports legend has been confirmed in the Italian squad’s No. 61 Ferrari F458 Italia alongside Jeff Segal and Alessandro Pier Guidi. The Bronze-rated Fittipaldi replaces Alexander Talkanitsa, who had driven the GTE-Am entry in Bahrain.

Fittipaldi, a two-time Formula One World Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner, announced his comeback last night on his Facebook page.

Fittipaldi’s last professional race came in 2008 when he teamed with his brother, Wilson, in a Brazilian GT event.

Rumors of a potential comeback race began when “Emmo” was added to the FIA Drivers Ratings list in September, having been classified as a Bronze-rated pilot, which would fit the criteria needed to compete in GTE-Am.

He will be pulling double duty over the weekend, as he also serves as promoter of the Brazilian round of the FIA WEC.

The Six Hours of Sao Paulo is set for Nov. 28-30
