Essentially 9 is for 2 LNB(4 ins QUATRO LNB) and one for terrestrial. If I were to use this switch on a FTA lnb here, would I need to plug it into HI or LO for V and H? It has V-LO, V-HI, H-LO, H-HI.

Only if your LNB(s) are legacy, and require the +18 for "H" and +13 for "V" transponders, so it would be V-LO and H-HI for sat #1, and the same for any other legacy LNB.

What brand/type of LNB to you have? And how many?

And what brand/make is the switch your looking at?

Dependent on what model the switch is will depend on what lnb you have to use. These switches are designed to primarily work with quattro lnbs not quads, only certain models will support a quad lnb. If you are using a quad and the switch supports it, it doesn't matter which lnb output goes to which switch input providing you don't get them mixed up between inputs A and inputs B. By past experience these switches don't work that well with Quads and its best to use quattros.

The quattro lnb has four outputs VL, VH, HL, and HH, each output must go to the corresponding input on the switch. You don't have to use the Terrestrial input if you don't want to. All it will do if you connect and aerial to Terr is just combine the two signals down the same cable from the output. When connected to the receiver each output from the switch is designed to work like a normal lnb, switching between the four polarities dependent on what signal it gets from the receiver connected to it.

Some brands will work with Quads but its usually very hit and miss. Best brands to go for would be something like Vision/Terra, Spaun, Triax or Fracarro. There are other brands like Televes and Global but these are very hit and miss due to the large signal loss through each switch. My favourite are Vision branded switches due to how user friendly they are. They are marketed as Terra in Europe and Vision within the UK.

Just a word of warning though, the inputs are usually listed as A and B. Which ever sat is connected to the ports under A will be the default signal the receiver will get (DISEqC AA). In order to get the sat connected to the B ports will require a DISEqC AB signal to be sent from the receiver to get the switch to go to the second lot of inputs on input B.

I have installed well over 5,000 of these switches in small buildings with four to eight properties and larger builds with upto 180 properties so you could say i'm a bit of an expert on them :D
