Although neither Toyota Racing nor Mike Conway has confirmed it publicly, the Englishman is poised to join the team full-time in a step up from his reserve role for the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship season.

Conway’s 2014 IndyCar team owner, Ed Carpenter, confirmed his IndyCar departure from CFH Racing during a press conference at Thursday’s Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show in Indianapolis.

“Mike won’t be back with us next year as he’s under contract with Toyota in the WEC,” Carpenter told IndyCar.com. “They had an option on him that they did take so he’ll be restricted in the events he can make.”

There are five direct head-to-head IndyCar road race and FIA WEC weekend conflicts in 2015, which made Conway’s ideal plan of splitting his time between the two championships for another season unfeasible.

Toyota is yet to make an official statement. However, the World Championship-winning organization is expected to announce its full 2015 lineup later this month.

With two cars for the full WEC season and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Conway would replace at least one of the existing 2014 six full-season drivers next season, widely believed to be Nicolas Lapierre, who was forced out of the cockpit for the final half of the season.
