Hello, and thanks first for reading this post and be willing to help.
I have a HP laptop with Windows 8 on it. If I bought Windows XP and installed it on the HP laptop with the Windows 8 all ready installed. I was wondering if the XP would have any trouble because of the 2 different operating system would have conflict with each other. The reason I am doing this is because I want the laptop to deal with 1 thing which is music.
Thank you
bigge

you could make it a dual boot operating system but I doubt XP would evr work properly. First off where do you intend to buy XP? It has been discontinued for years and no longer supported. Chances are your laptop has hardware that you would never find XP drivers for. What is wrong with using 8.1 for music?

I've gone back to Windows 7 from 8 but not to XP from 8, you may get lucky if the drivers for your system hardware using XP have not been deleted or updated by the manufacture.

XP PRO may be able to do it, but I would setup a second logical drive on you current drive (E: or F: or X: whatever) and load it on to that drive, that way it setup as a dual boot system.

Why XP with music? W8 does music just fine.

If I wanted XP and didn't know if it was going to work on my laptop, I would buy another hard drive for the laptop and keep my
OE hard drive just in case I didn't work, BTW you can buy windows XP disk on ebay.

Well that may work but if the hardware drivers are not there for XP then the laptop is a door stop.

Remember when W7 came out? Some systems could not run it because the drivers had a compatibility issue, going backwards sometimes doesn't work as good ether.

If he just wants music on that laptop try Ubuntu, you can do a dual boot with that OS.

There are ways to get the keys,LOL, and microcrap will support it as long as they don't know they are supporting it, XP can still be
updated.
I have not tried going from windows 8 to XP but going from windows 8 to windows 7 no problems, I have found that downgrading
an OS is not as hard as upgrading an OS,JMO,LOL.

downgrading 1 step is usually never a big issue but from Win 8 to Xp is stepping 3 different operating systems. That is pushing it on the compatibility issue when it comes to drivers

I think y'all for the great input. My main problem is the whole app thing on windows 8, windows 7 might had been a better choice for an OS. thanks again
