You might try downloading MalewareBytes onto a stick and load it on the machine. You can get a copy from filehippo dot com.

Start in safe mode with networking, find eset on line scanner, use it to scan and remove unwanted files, after you scan tell eset not
to install and you can use it as many times as you want for free.

OK, get this Kaspersky TDSSKiller (free) and run it. Normal and/or Safe mode, should take care of it.

When you do a system restore all you are doing is going back to a time before the update, the virus is in the update/ microsoft
put it there, eset will find it and remove it, its in windows 7 update too, in windows 7 it will change your home page and report
back to microsoft, why or for what I don't know.

Google/eset on line scanner/ don't install it to your pc, put it on a usb drive, it will download then you need to select 1 of 2 options,
I use the first option, after the scan is done select do not install, that way you can use it for free as many times as you want.
I used it on windows 8.1, it cleaned up the computer and has had no more problems.

like I said in software section
start by looking for what you uninstalled
then look for obvious...if you don't know recognize name of software app then kill it ;)
