maybe opec wants to boost their other investments
Its the market manipulators that pulled out.. Goldman Sachs got out of the metals and oil market in the last 6 months and how odd that once they stoped playing the game prices dropped.. Its a war for market share, Saudis are the low cost producers and want to bankrupt some competitors and buy em out.. Not the first time the saudis get in a pissing contest..I figure 6 months of low pricing before pricing goes back to 100$ a barrel or more..

You shouldn't be sniffing gasoline this early in the day - it might affect your thinking process.

I, like many others get great pleasure filling up at the gas pumps these days but I am also concerned about how low the prices and the long term effect it will have on the economy. Alberta could be facing a recession and this will eventually effect the rest of Canada.
However, I think this could be the least of our worries. The gas price (along with sanctions) is putting a large strain on the Russian economy and this is turn is putting a lot of pressure on Putin. He has achieved a high approval rating in Russia the last little while with his actions in Crimea, Ukraine and his aggressiveness toward the West. Russia is heading towards a recession and his new found approval rating will soon be gone. I do not think he will give up the Crimean peninsula or the Ukraine to appease the West and thus the sanctions will continue and Russia will suffer. You may think that this is a good thing but Putin is an unkown entity (former KGB) and he could do something drastic such as begin another World War 3 and this could have drastic results.
I do not want to go back to the days of $1.30-$1.40 gas prices but I also do not want a world wide recession.
