There was a lot of interest in this heavyweight contest. it was built to be a blockbuster that will resurrect Heavyweight boxing in America. It was meant to deliver a message to the world that America has a serious heavyweight champion to challenge for the undisputed world title.

Sorry but........we did not see a serious threat to dethrone Vladimir Klitschko as the world's great heavyweight. His titles are fairly safe.

There is one thing this bout did - legitimize the accomplishments of Deontay Wilder. Those who questioned his 32-0, 32 KO record, have been silenced.

Wilder is 29 years old with a mission, to provide for his daughter who was born with spina bifida, a severe disabling issue that involves a split spine. Wilder's motivation is to "lay the gold on her daughter's lap".

Wilder had two occasions when he had Stiverne in trouble but the Haitian escaped the barrage of punches that Wilder rained on him.

By sheer number of punches connected, Wilder wins a unanimous decision and picked up the heavyweight crown - realizing his goal. Unfortunately, he could not wrestle the world's championship belts from Klitschko. He is still relatively young, though. Perhaps with a few more matches and a couple more years' experience, he may enhance his skills to have better chances at the world crown.

The conclusion is that Wilder is for real...and he can last 12 rounds.

Listening to Bermane's post fight interview with Jim Gray, I felt bad for him. He is a nice guy and I really wanted to see him get Wilder in trouble but from round one, he was unable to pull the trigger. I am sorry to see a classy fellow like him to be in the losing end of the fight.

Agree with ya aqua.. Stiverne showed his 36 years of age... lotsa the guttiness was gone... afraid to throw
punches..refused to trade with Wilder.. too small and short armed.. Wilder no Arreola.
Credit to Wilder.. he came to fight and can really throw a right hand. Plus can move fairly well
for a heavyweight.
I would give Wilder a punchers chance against the Ruskie. Knowing the Ruskie has weak whiskers.

Stiverne should have been knocked out..jmo..Wilder used the jab very effectively for atleast 6 rnds..But simply faded away...No match for a Klitschko...jmo...And then we get too Leo Santa Cruz ;)..hats off too Jesus Ruiz for giving it all 100%..Looking forward to Leo's next bout..The Imam and Maldonoto bout was great as well. All in all excellant fight night..:)

He did try his best to KO Stiverne but faded a bit. To his credit, he was quite composed and gave Stiverne no chance at all for a rare comeback. I do think he needs two or three more tough opponents before trying his luck "with the Ruskie"!

Unfortunately, although Sta Cruz came out with a stoppage, I don't think he was impressive. Ruiz, with his determination, did not have what it takes to put Leo to a real test. I can't wait for him to get it on with a "real challenge" in Abner Mares!

But what about that Maldonado and Imam trading KO's? WOW, that was exciting. Imam is a serious threat in that division.
