View Full Version : Disappointed....in Picture Quality.

Just got a v6 and was pleased with how easy it was to set up ( although it missed a few tps) but disappointed in the picture quality. I'd have to say it's downright awful. The SD is practically unwatchable and the Hd is not great: not crisp, not well balanced and realistic color. I have a beautiful Panasonic Plasma and it used to look awesome.

Never thought I'd warm up to my Limesat but.... it's got it's problems too of course but pic quality ain't one of them. Any thoughts? What's a receiver that has awesome quality?

Sonicview dreamlink are both good

Well, unless there's something I'm missing, yeah. Tried 720, 1080, 'by source' , 'by nature Tv'.

"SOFT" yes that describes it. Wish I'd known that before buying. What if I hooked this sucker up to my other el cheapo Philips tv - maybe it's salvageable.

I've got a v6 & it has an excellent picture for both HD & SD. Better than any of Shaws, Bell, DN, or Nfusions equipment. So I must have lucked out, because it does give a great picture.

Well...they are made in China,so quality control/functionality differences are MORE than possible.lol

Well obviously lots of this is subjective. I can only compare it to my Limesat HD and the limey is obviously superior. In SD any super quick movement is slightly blurry. I noticed Comedy Central came in fairly nicely last night - so it depends on channel too. Think I'll try dreamlink next

Anyone been able to compare/test dreamlink and limesat?

Sounds to me like you have not set your colour, hue, contrast, etc. on the box. You can't just plug a box in and expect the picture to be 100% without some adjustments in the screen settings for either the box or the tv and sometimes both to fine tune the picture.

By the way I moved this to the clone section where it should be.

Yes I adjusted all those(color, contrast, hue, saturation...) . Still was not happy with the sharpness. Didn't look as good to me. I thought "oh maybe I'll get used to it" but no..... Definitely not as good as the Limey.

I think I'll try torpainter's suggestion and go with dreamlink in the future.

The Dreamlink does have a really good picture. I can't dispute that.

Just a thought. Maybe the receivers are fine but the jb200 tuners are cloned from inferior parts.....................

That's a good idea but I don't have any other friends testing. Already have moved on - going over to buy a dreamlink tomorrow. I think probably this jynx is ok , I'm just really picky about pic quality and want the best. I should have done more research. I kind of started this thread to get advice and to forewarn any picky bast*rds like me what they might face, or a least to give it more thought than I did.

I will report back for those interested.

No, haven't made up my mind at all. That's why I asked. I've had trouble with limesat but pic quality wasn't one of them. Which box would you say had the best pic quality? And did your module have the heat sink?

. If you don't mind searching for a used one,try to find a good sv8000:I had dreamlink, nfusion, jynxbox,& limesat, and the sv had by far the best picture.

Are they still ok for private server?

I used to support a group that had 7 sv8000's in it.All stiil work excellent, but not perfect for BEV.Still 1 of the best for DN.

Hmmm .. must take that into consideration, Noof. Maybe older units are more suited to those who can work on them themselves?

Actually limesat hd with ls 500 or ls 400 >dreamilink is good - I have heard good things about it.. and jynxbox v6 or 7 - you can get both providers with these boxes and module usually does come with it ..you can also change the module yourself...lil fan always cools the box nice...
newer modules are better> forums are here to help

........
That being said, all the stb's seem to have their own bugaboos:the jynxbox with 8psk modules, limesat with connectivity issues, ect.

I hear you...

I guess I got some thinking to do.

Hi, Ok reporting back as promised. Ended up getting a dreamlink t5 and yes, it has superior pic quality. I'd have to say equal to Limesat and better than Jynx. Jynx, I found easier to set up however.

This thread was all about pic quality but I must say I don't understand why Dreamlink doesn't have a page up/page down feature (!!!)
I use that all the time. Way easier on the hands. That, I really don't like.

But beautiful picture. (Not adjustable! at box level - what's up with that?) Jynx better there.

Can I ask the veterans which bin I should be using: 102 or 103? I'm presently using 102 because I read somewhere that 103 was not produced by DL.

Go over to the Dreamlink T5 section and you can post there any questions you have and will get more feedback.

V6 and V7 are the best and I have never been disappointed with V6. Are you sure you've had all the configurations and TV settings set up properly? If not then better ask someone from the place where you've gotten it as to why it ain't giving you the quality you want, as V6 should have excellent picture quality.

Has anyone figured out a perfect setup on the Jynxbox itself? I have it side by side with my Bev sub and the Bev is much superior. But after playing with the Jynxbox, I set it up this way that seemed to help. What is everyone using for settings?

Brightness 68
Contrast 68
Saturation 68
Hue 50
Sharpness 6

I think the picture quality has a lot to do with the brand of the tv, for example samsung and vizio will give you a superior and crispier picture quality regardless of the model specially the latest models, but cheaper tv sets like Emerson,Sanyo,RCA will not give you the same crispy and beautifull picture like the one on the better brands but overall the dreamlink t5 has a great picture quality but jynxbox has a decent picture quality as well

I have a Jynxbox V3 (not a clone) and I find the HD picture excellent very much on a par with my SV8000.A buddy of mine bought a V10 and the picture is excellent also. There may be a problem on your receiver.

I had :
50

5
Picture seems ok except for dark scenes. Dark seems to have shadows.

I tried your settings and it had way to much white. Was watching hockey and the Ice was pure white and players looked like cartoon characters.

Great guide if Dreamlink is setup properly. I just took these pictures. Take notice of the date and time and same with guide. I can run it ahead a week if you like.

THat's not always the case, but in this instance that is true. My jynx's fan now makes the most horrendous noise upon start up. I'm going to take it to a computer repair guy and have him replace the fan. I have a V7. Still the picture is mediocre at best.

He will probably charge you 50 or 60 bucks to fix. Are you sure you can't do it yourself? You know you can get a new jynxbox off fleabay for as low as 70 bucks. good luck

francolu

This IS a new one. Just bought it 4 months ago. I could fix it myself if I could be sure fan would be quieter. Maybe I'll just buy fan off him. Do the fix myself. <br />
