I am currently using an old Kingston USB DataTraveler 1GB. It has been formatted many times. Would it make a difference on the age of this USB Stick when it comes to loading files?

Nothing last forever, but if you're using it to load files to a receiver, then not much harm can be done. Don't think I'd use it for backing up my computer's OS.
