I just got my V10. Without doing enough reading, I downloaded the latest file, 2.51. Afterwards I did a factory reset for the sats to pop up in the menu. Only problem is when I performed a scan, the little satellite symbol showed the waves coming down, but no transponder frequecy listed nor no channels scanning in. Now I read that if it's a V10, it's a clone! Argh!! I'm not sure what to do next so as not to wreck the receiver, if I hadn't already. Can anyone guide me in how to make the box opperational? Thanks!

Moved your post. The v10 is a clone and this is the proper section.

Doesn't anyone have any input to my problem?? Should I just load the V10 allchunk file via the loader?

From what I have read the v7 file works best. You may want to follow what is going on here...http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?176232-JBox-V10-help-please/page2

You had best get that file off the receiver now or it will be dead soon, try to load file 239 over it before the clone kill file gets it.
If you can get file 239 to load then we can talk about what file to load after that, do it now.

Forgot about the clone kill.

I was able to load the 2.39 Clone Safe file. It loaded and I did a factory reset afterwards but it still reads 2.51 in the receiver info section of the menu ansd still does not scan. I tried to load V10 allchunk Factory Recovery file afterwards and only got a "invalid file" message. Can you help me??

I have been down this road before, if it don't show file 239 in the receiver menu you will need the loader and loader cable and that still will only work about 50% of the time.
If the loader wan't connect then the only other option is to reflash the U7 chip or send it back to the vender and get another one.

When using the loader program, I believe you use a serial cable and not a null modem cable. Are there any special instructions using the loader program like turning on the power switch to the receiver after you start the loader program?? Which file or files should I load? Will I need to change the file from .abs to .bin? Sorry about all the questions but I want to make sure I do it right and have the best chance for recovery. Thank you for your help!!!

No you don't change the file EXT, I would use the V7 allchunk file, start the loader then turn the receiver on with the back switch.

Im using loader 3.0.0e. After hitting the connect button,Im getting a "Time out when read data!" message. Not sure what this means??

That means you have the wrong cable or you are in the 50% of the receivers that can't be recovered from the 251 firmware
without reflashing the U7 chip, been there done that.

I think my cable is correct. Funny thing is the port on the V10 is female. All the other receivers I've ever had were male and all the cables I had were female. A female to female adapter is needed which I don't have. What I did have was a Belkin usb to serial port adapter. It is male so I could connect to the receiver. I think it's communicating because until I switched to com port 3 on the loader, it was detecting nothing.

To use a usb to rs232 adaptor you need to find & load the driver for that cable and turn off your fire wall on your computer.

iq 180 right on the drivers.
But if you are using an older Belkin it might not work. Had used one for years and when I up graded to windows 8.1 they didn't make newer drivers for my Belkin. You might have to change to a different adapter if the drivers are no good. Had the same issue with my birdog couldn't program it till I changed adapters.
