Former WBC Light Heavyweight Champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad Explains Why Pacquiao Has A Slim Chance Of Winning Against Mayweather By Rachelle Corpuz on April 02 2015 1:36 PM

Former World Boxing Council light heavyweight champion Eddie Mustafa Muhammad has shared his prediction and opinion on the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Muhammad puts his money on Mayweather to win his 48th professional victory.

“My pick on the fight, you know it’s going to be Floyd because he’s bigger than Manny, he’s going to be punching harder than Manny,” Muhammad said in an interview shared on Mayweather's official YouTube channel. “You got to realise one thing, if I’m not mistaken, 47 have tried and 47 have failed - Manny’s been knocked out twice in his career so he knows how to taste defeat.”

Mayweather is not a big-puncher. He is arguably the best defensive fighter that the sport has ever seen. He has never been a knockout artist too. For Mayweather, boxing is an art, which is why rarely do people see Mayweather scoring knockouts and pounding opponents until their faces are all bloodied. Though, Muhammad claims that the fans will see a “more, better, improved Floyd” in the blockbuster fight on May 2.
Legacy-Defining Bout
Muhammad sees nothing special with the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. He believes that it won’t define Mayweather’s legacy in boxing. Mayweather’s legacy is not the reason why the fight materialised. He insists that Mayweather doesn’t need to beat Pacquiao to cement his legacy in the sport of boxing.
Mayweather has never lost a single fight. Everyone knows that, yet Muhammad has once again bragged about Mayweather’s 47 victories from 47 professional fights. Mayweather fought young fighters and even veteran world champions such as the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Shane Mosley. According to Mustafa, Mayweather has nothing to prove and will undoubtedly be hailed in boxing’s Hall of Fame regardless of the outcome of the May 2 fight.
Muhammad, however, said that he has high regard for Pacquiao. Still, Muhammad puts his money on “Money” Mayweather to take the victory on May 2. The only way for Pacquiao to win is “grow another two arms,” Muhammad joked before grinning.
Pacquiao, a 20-year professional, had also made a name for himself in the sporting world of boxing. He captured his first world title in 1998. The 36-year-old Filipino has won world titles in eight different weight divisions, defeating the likes of Antonio Margarito, Marco Antonio Barrera, Oscar De La Hoya, Erik Morales, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Many argue that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight should have happened a few years back when both fighters were still in their primes. Still, the May 2 showdown at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada remains a must-see boxing event as people want to see if Mayweather continues his winning streak or if Pacquiao can knock Mayweather out.

Now, who could ever argue with Eddie Gregory - Mustafa Muhammad - who defeated Vito Antuofermo and Patrick Mahoney, two consecutive years in 1971-72? This is a man who knows boxing like the palm of his hand - when he is not wearing gloves, that is.

Forget that he lost to Victor Galindez, Renaldo Snipes, or Michael Spinks. Forget that he lost to Radomes Cabrera. (Cabrera who?) Or to Bernie Briscoe. Now I bet you all know about Briscoe. This is the guy that lost to Marvin Hagler, Antuofermo, Valdez, David Love. (Not the golfer, nitwit! That is Davis Love) David Love was 30 wins - 15 losses when he beat Muhammad! Just a bad luck, mind you...that loss! Ok, ok, so he also lost to Richie Bennett, Clement Tshinza, Vinnie Curto, Nick Ortiz, Ralph Hollett and Jimmy Sykes! So what? Big deal. Mustafa is the real deal!

Besides being a terrific boxer, Eddie is a great trainer! Look what he did with Chad Dawson?

So when Mustafa talks boxing, you can bet your life that Teddy Atlas, Roy Jones Jr., Muhammad Ali, Thomas Hearns...all the big boxers...they listen! So does Michael Buffer! Mustafa is a walking boxing encyclopedia. When he says that Mayweather is "punching harder than Manny", he is dead on! He further explains the reason why Mayweather is not scoring knock outs: To him (Floyd), "Boxing is an art which is why rarely do people see Mayweather scoring knockouts and pounding opponents until their faces are all bloodied." Isn't that spoken like a true connoisseur and expert in boxing?

I can bet you, that shames Teddy Atlas who never understood the punching power of Floyd Mayweather. Teddy, now you know why Mayweather has not scored a KO except for the sucker punch of Victor Ortiz. You have to listen to Eddie Mustafa explain it to you in plain and simple language.

So, to all of you who have been wondering who will win, I say...I am with Eddie and believe him 200%. He will knock out Pacquiao in 4 rounds! (Attaboy! Eddie! Now, I am waiting for Mustafa's 6/49 picks for the next lotto!)

Besides, I would not argue with anyone who can produce two lovely daughters like Eddie's!

Another sparring partner of Floyd Mayweather Jr., who’s preparing for his fight against Manny Pacquiao, has given the undefeated American passing marks less than a month to go before the super fight on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. Don Moore stated in a recent interview that he’s impressed with Mayweather Jr.’s power and explosiveness during their training sessions.
“Floyd, he’s explosive man, he’s strong as hell,” Moore said to Dontae's Boxing Nation on YouTube. “I’m trying to wrap him up, learn from him, ducking and dodging and running off combinations man and he see everything. It’s like man, master of boxing.”

Like Mayweather Jr., Moore is from the United States and is also undefeated in his pro boxing career. At 5-foot-10, Moore has a record of 17 wins with no losses and a draw and eleven of his victories came by way of knockout. Other sparring partners who have been confirmed to be part of the Mayweather training camp in Las Vegas are former champion Zab Judah and DeMarcus Corley— who are both southpaws like Pacquiao, who’s holding his own training camp in Los Angeles.
While there were rumours that Judah knocked down Mayweather Jr. in their sparring, the former has denied those allegations point-blank. Meanwhile, Corley echoed Moore’s sentiments admiring Mayweather Jr.’s current form and even predicted that the undefeated American will win “at least eight rounds” against Pacquiao. Watch the full interview of Moore about Mayweather Jr.’s form in their training camp:
