from another site
TV Channels:
SD 750Kbps
HD 1Mbps
VoD Movies:
SD (microHD) 650Kbps
HD (720p) 1.4Mbps
We have done some tests with 1.5Mbps internet connection and we were able to watch SD and HD channels without freezing.
Based on the internet speed required per content as defined above the following is estimated internet consumption (BANDWIDH) per month based on using your IPTV service 8 hours per day.
Live TV Channels:
SD = 750Kbps = 329.58 MB / Hour @ 8 Hours per Day = 81.73 GB / Month
HD = 1 Mbps = 439.43 MB / Hour @ 8 Hours per Day = 108.98 GB / Month.
VoD Movies:
MicroHD = 650Kbps = 285.63 MB / Hour @ 8 Hours per Day = 70.83 GB / Month.
HD = 1.4 Mbps = 615.21 MB / Hour @ 8 Hours per Day = 152.57 GB / Month.
IPTV is not recommended for those users who don't have an unlimited internet connection.

hmm no mention of the higher HD format and 4K is not that far away either. my internet is running at 50Mbits and I still get buffering on 1080p here so either their server can't dish it out fast enough or 50Mbits is not enough bandwidth. A lot also depends on the video compression they are using as well.

thanks for answers its good to know that bandwidth usage is huge, remember people read your inet contract, as fine print may cap unlimited usage at 50 or 100 gb. if so and say you go 50 gb or higher over limit your inet bill could be huge. just looking out for the community

IPTv works fine with 3 mbs per with a monthly usage of at least 150 gb !!

lol ... either your 50 Mbps isn't what it should be or the server you are using isn't up to snuff ...
4K is 4 times more data than 1080 so if you're buffering at 1080 then you will not be able to watch 4K :)
although I've read that Neflix's 4K will only require a stable 15Mbps connection ...
as for compression, it only decreases the amount of data transferred so it shouldn't be a factor, other than picture quality of course ...

It's the server that is just to busy is all bro. Try another if you have the choice.
If it is a movie I really want to watch I will just set up to download after midnight and watch later.

LOL I am not worried about 4K anyway and I have a lot of other things running off the same line all the time anyway, 3 computers, a couple of smart tvs , etc. etc. etc not sure about the washer and dryer, fridge and microwave. give them time they will be. I suspect buffering wouldn't be an issue if it was just that unit but then most people are not just using broadband to stream tv either.
I just ran a speed test on the computer I have Kodi on out of curiosity. Just over 44Mbits, 44.03 to be exact so it could be on the server end or any where else in between that it is lagging. Just like IKS that way, doesn't matter how good your internet is or the server on the other end if you have a bunch of slow relay nodes in between it is going to buffer. Actually I don't do much live streaming anyway and usually just download the content to watch later. So if it is lagging on a live stream it doesn't matter because you don't see on play back of a downloaded video.

I watch maybe 4 hours a day. 2 hours SD and 2 hours 1080p usually. And have only once topped 70gigs. But remember you have to take into account all of your internet usage, not just streaming.

I have 6 computers, 2 ps4's, 3 ps3's over christmas vacation my kids were skyping, gaming streaming videos and TV a lot according to my IP, I received a letter from them,in Feb, saying that we surpassed 300gigs of data usage and needed to call them.They said that even though my internet package says unlimited there is an actual cap of 300gigs, it never went any farther than that so i don't know if they were trying to warn me or what?
