Cops found 10 shell casings outside an Ottawa house Tuesday morning where eight bullet holes can be seen in the stucco, fence and window frames.
OTTAWA – A hail of gunfire aimed at their home in the early morning hours Wednesday has sent one family scrambling to find another place to live.
The young man at the door said a bullet whizzed through his bedroom just after 2:30 a.m., just inches above his head as he lay in bed.
"It went through the window, through my wall and into the hall," he said, rubbing his forehead.
In all, cops found 10 shell casings in the home’s backyard.
There is a bullet hole in the edge of the wooden fence. Investigators pried it out and sent it for analysis.
There are six more holes in the second-floor stucco siding at the back of the rowhouse and one more through the edge of what appears to be a kitchen window.
"We have no witnesses, no motive, no suspects and nobody was hurt," Staff Sgt. Ken Bryden said.
That's not to say people didn't hear it. A neighbour named Samya said the din woke her up.
"I heard about five or six -- tack, tack, tack, tack, tack, like this," she said.
