OTTAWA - It was four minutes that must have felt like an eternity for one young Rockland, Ont., boy, as a pit bull attacked him and his mother Friday night.
The 10-year-old boy -- whose name was not released by police -- ran from his house screaming for help, bloodied from dog bites to his legs.
Inside the home east of Ottawa, police say, the pit bull was mauling his mother.
"We all know the dog and it's been fine every time we've been to the house," said the mother of the 34-year-old female victim, who said her daughter was recovering at home and didn't want her name published.
"She's still in a lot of pain."
The dog did not belong to the family and police believe they were dogsitting for a friend or neighbour.
OPP Const. Serge Gauthier said police arrived to find the dog still on top of the boy's mother and acting aggressively.
