Good step can be bring your receiver back in { NORMAL } use RCA input

Seems to be 2 areas of potential problems:
a. WHICH COMM PORT the USE-Serial is connected to...

b. WHICH type Serial cable?

Several forums have different answers to "b.", but seems like the majority of sites I checked say to use a NULL MODEM SERIAL CABLE--not a straight through.

Not saying this is right, but that's what most folks are saying.

This is what a friend of mine did.. when faced with a Frozen Jynxbox Ultra HD.
They noticed on the front of the receiver like it had Factory Reset.... It had No Chn on the front of it...

When it finished loading up there was no control over the Menu Screen. It was Frozen

Download Loader

Make sure after unzipping it you select Upgrade (application)
for loading a file..

Pay attention to your computer screen.. you should see it installing to a port..
NOTE which Comm Port it installs on or check in CONTROL PANEL--SYSTEM--PORTS to see which port your USB-Serial is assigned to.

My friend uses.. the DB9 to USB Adapter and a Null Modem Cable (must use Null Modem Cable)

and because the jynxbox is backwards.. you need to have a female to female adapter.. or a Male/Female Null Modem Cable... to attach to the DB9 Serial Port on the back of the receiver..

when Vista Got done installing it showed it was assigned to comport 5.... which is why you need to pay attention in case it shows you what port to use.. on the Loader..

Otherwise you have to go into Control Panel to get to System and find what ComPort.. be it you used DB9 to DB9.. or if you used the DB9 to USB adapter..

where you would go to Universal Serial Bus to find the port assigned to it..

Make sure you select Firmware and then find the Factory File

use Factory File

click to install..

You might have to do this mulitiple times.. before it works.. if it will work at all..

it took my friend... 3 times of installing the factory file.. before it finally unfroze..

You might have to try doing it more than that... and there is no guarantee it will work... but.. it just might.....

good luck.. to those who have to try it....

You use a null cable to load files

Not sure on Jynxbox, but with WFEMU and VS, you can only use Comm1 or Comm6

... AND VS uses NULL MODEM SERIAL CABLE--NOT "straight thru".

Not saying that's the case with Jynxbox and the websites were confused.

4. The PL-2303 chip in the USB-Serial cable is a standard chip. As js said, just be sure you've got the driver for your OS (XP, Vista, 7, 8)

and VerIFY in CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM, PORTS which Comm Port your USB-Serial is hooked to.

Re: Bricked V2

Maybe not as bricked as you think. Before you go and puka up the memory, try this...

Open the box up and remove the JB200. Leave the box open for now. Make sure you ground yourself to the enclosure before you touch anything.

Ok. Now see if the box starts up. If it does, it will complain about no tuner but then you know the box is fine and it was the tuner causing all the grief. You won't waste a bunch of time spinning your wheels. The JB200 is actually the most probable cause of this failure. Seen a few exactly like this. If tuner is puka'ed then you will be killing yourself trying to get the factory to load for nothing. The box still won't work.

If box is still puka'ed, then you go ahead and try to load factory with the cable.

This won't take more than 10 minutes.

Re: Using jynxbox loader get error

Hey T,
The problem may be 1 of 2 things. You may need to install the usb to serial cable drivers or you may need to configure the a USB to serial converter in the "device Manager".
To configure a USB port to the COM 1 port on systems that do not have
available serial ports:
1. Connect the USB to serial converter to the USB port on your system.
2. For Windows Vista, click Start, select Control Panel, double-click System
and Maintenance, and then skip to step 4.
-or-
For Windows XP, click Start, select Control Panel, click Performance and
Maintenance, and then click System.
-or-
For Windows Server, click Start, select Control Panel, and then doubleclick
System.
3. Click the Hardware tab.
4. Click Device Manager. The Device Manager screen appears.
5. In the tree displayed in the left panel, click the Ports (COM & LPT) branch
to expand.
6. Double-click the port that is assigned to your USB to serial converter
device. This port is usually named with the device manufacturer's name
followed by one of the following:
o USB to Serial Bridge (COM 4)
o USB Serial port
o Communications Port (COM1)
The Port Properties screen appears.

See if that helps.

Take care.
