Bought HBU55. 4 small arms broken

Ordered an HBU55 antenna and it came with 4 small arms broken. It's too expensive to ship back. Will it work without them or can I reattach them some how?

more than likely it will still work are the off the uhf or vhf side. what i mean is if they are from the front that forms the v or the horizontal spread of the antenna

I'll have to see where they come off tomorrow and take new pics.

Contact the shipper (UPS, FEDex, USPS, or whomever) and file a damaged goods claim.

It can be fixed but a new one would work better.

What can be done is to find some aluminum tubing that will fit inside the radials, a small clamp or screw will hold it in place.

But an insurance clam with the shipper would be the best bet.

I emailed the seller. Problem is I'm in Canada and ship to a warehouse in the US. I'd have to get it back to them there. I'll see what he offers. I'd be happy with a some money off the price I paid.

Great idea! I'll play with it today to see what I can do with it. Still no reply from the seller.

Or if your real careful and match the length correctly you can get some of the tubing below and slip it on the old elements that are broke.

Just cut (very carefully) the old element past the broken point, and slip the new one over it, (get one size larger then the old one) then a small worm gear hose clamp will hold it together, you can pinch the ends to keep the bugs out.

I pop riveted the 4 pieces back on. They are more sturdy than the ones that are not. The 4 pieces that were broken were actually two that broke in half. I put them back in their place and then riveted them. The other one that was broken was the plastic not the actual arm. I gorilla glued it back together then screwed it together for extra support. I fixed the bottom one as you can see. What do you think?

Finally got the antenna up. Not getting the channel I want but after reading online, I have the antenna facing the wrong way. Going to turn it 180 degrees tomorrow. With the antenna backwards I am getting channel 7 and 13 with about 70% signal on my tv. I want to get channel 12. I hope it will pull it in. I'm up 25'. I can go to 40'.

I guess I don't understand it too much. If you look at channel 13.1 which is about 33 miles from me. I am getting a 92% signal on it. Is it cause its an LOS and channel 12.1 is a 2edge? I noticed that the db level for 13.1 is 33db but 12.1 is -1db. That seems a considerable difference.

The "Knife Edging" causes the signals to bend a tiny bit due to refraction, (like a mirror) it also cases the signals to scatter, this effect sometimes is worse at night, or during the day, so at sometimes you may get the channel, and other times you won't.

In other words the curvature of the Earth and terrain is in the way, TV signals do not travel as far as AM radio signals, and don't like the tops of mountains.

Where we live. It's flat as a board. I guess it's the curvature of this earth. I'm going to go up 40' on the weekend and see how it goes. I'll repost after.

How did you make out? Do you have an amp on it? I cleaned out Radshack when they closed earlier this year. I have one of their amps on my attic antenna and I am getting some pretty good range considering my location in a valley.
