Hello guys this photos are from an old system called 4dtv, at least that is what I understood the name was, or it sounded like that, on this 12' BUD I am making a thingy to use a KU Band LNB for AMZ 61 west, but that is not the point here, the point here is that I understand and learn about C Band, the brand is Chaparral and the plastic part says GARDINER Communications
C-Band Digital LNB
Gain: 65 db (TYP)
IN:3.4-4.2 GHz
IF: 950-1750
LO:5.15
Made in USA.

i have a Motorola 4DTV (DSR922) receiver (i think they started makin them in 2002 just to give you and idea. . but that looks like a really old boy you got there, it may have been used with the GI version of the receiver (DSR920, before 2002) or older. . .GI Super 360 (maybe when gran mom was a kid lol). .

That Chaparral Feedhorn is old, probably from back in the 1980's or 90's used for analog satellite viewing, I have one of those feedhorns or close to it laying in a box some place.

The 'Gardiner' C-Band LNB definitely looks newer 'cleaner' than the Chaparral Feedhorn, since most if not all 4DTV is now on C-Band that would likely still work for that.

The one reason to put a new LNB on that old feedhorn is to upgrade to one with a higher degree rating to get rid of sparklies and trash in the analog signal so you will get a better picture, back years ago during analogs heyday they generally came out with cheap LNB's with a low degree rating. The newer ones that are a higher degree rating (15-20) degrees are worth some money ($200-300).

I bought a dual (C and KU) LNB feedhorn and new higher degree LNB's because a bunch of the good 4DTV channels was on a KU satellite (X4) for a while but as luck would have it a while after I bought it they moved all those channels to a C-Band sat (W5). LOL

Until your lnbf comes in turbo, that is a good lnb, what are you going to do with the servo motor. If you use it on your pansat, it can be used to switch polarity.
I would suggest testing with that lnb and make a comparison with your new lnbf- could be the makings of a good thread.

OK Costa, I think I know what you have in mind, Plus that is what I want in case I burn the LNB is not the new one gets burn lol, I think the new one doesn't have the servo thingy....................but I'll post photos when it gets here..........................

Your lnbf will not have a servo motor. It'll work just as well except no circular c band and don't expect much out of the insertion plate as well.

The downside of an lnbf is you can't fine tune the polarity. You have to be spot-on. Also, polarity varies from sat to sat.

To properly set-up a "Big Dish" you really have to do alot of technical adjustments. It is tough to get it right. To tell you online or even on the phone is a challenge, or impossible. If you lived close to me I would be glad to help.
