View Full Version : Unable to get a lock on 91 & 82 bev
The signal has not been as strong as it used to be
, is it possible I need a bigger dish and if so could someone guide me in the right direction ? I am in northern U.S. in the footprint of these sat's and it has always been tricky to line up on these 2 and get a good signal.

What are your settings? What have you done to correct this situation? Do you have a meter to help with aiming? Has the trees, line of sight something changed lately? What size dish do you have now, don't know if you need bigger? What lnb/switch? cable?

Kind of confused on the switch settings? Do you have a diseqc switch or not one is off and one is on I don't think I have seen this set up? But I'm not an expert here. Do you need to use a 22 khz switch or could you simplify it with a 4x1 diseqc switch? I only run 82&91 so it's no issue. Did this work before? seems to be extra components that may have a chance to fail? Hope someone else can chime in that is tech savvy.

why do you think I asked?
Yes, every thing is identical guys... If I didn't mention I was getting my Bev's until last summer when the signals started to get weaker until I just get some reception in the A.M. and sometimes in the evening. I have read that in some case's you may need a bigger dish?? I also in the past was able to get them on my lime air, but that receiver crapped out on me. Also I have replaced all switches and cables last week.

Maybe start by plumbing up the pole.

Both masts? do you have two? Lets deal with the one you are having problems with, the 82&91 birds. What is this set up compiled of? One issue at a time less complicated that way.

OK, I think if I was to try a larger dish what should I use?? I have a old super dish I could mount my 2 LBN's to from my bev dish, would that work??

any size dish will work as long as focal point is correct
I've found in the past elevation needs to be changed cause arm was longer but helped improve signal quality by using a bigger pan

I think I will give it a try this weekend and report back on my findings. Thanks and talk to you soon.

I went from a standard 18" bell dish to a 26" dish and it made a huge diference. Signal in the 90s now

Cool, I will try that for sure this weekend wish me luck :okay:
Ok here's the latest, tried the bigger dish had the same results. Hooked the 500 backup borrowed a better meter realigned was able to pull in 82 but was only getting horizontal polarities and no verticles on 91 hooked that direct from 91 and it worked fine. So I'm thinking at thispoint it is the LNB on the dish 1000.2 Just ordered a new one . Will report again when I install it.

That was not it same problem still. 91 H TP's at 90% strength and in the green. 91 V TP's will not go green ???? 82 is working great.

You call telling someone asking for help to try and get a lock on signal to get IPTV good advice? It's a highjack period. Not to mention IPTV is just as illegal as stealing Bell or DN signal.
