It's a higher band than Ku in the 26.5 to 40 GHz range. This is also used for police radar. :D

On home satellite dishes a 'Ka' LNB is used for internet download systems like Direcway or Hughesnet internet systems, like solid dishes for Ku the dishes for Ka can be smaller than Bud in the 3-5' dia range.

A way to remember KU or KA is that both of them are in the K Band, KA is
K above and KU is K underneath. Referring to spectrum separation. Lot of
folks not realize that. KA transmits more power than the old C Band, smaller
dish but larger than KU dishes and of course less power than KU Band.

KA signals are more susceptible to rain fade as compared to KU despite
LNB's today can work with rain fade much better than past years.
