I'm considering switching to iptv, but I'm abit scared that it is not as simple as FTA.
Wondering what's what's your experience with IPTV? I played around with Kodi abit, and I found it was extremely frustrating experience. Lack of guide and lack of ability to record shows were things that concerned me as well...

One reason I'm considering IPTV is to see if I can record shows to NAS box. I haven't found any solution that allows me to do that in FTA world, I'm wondering if iptv is the answer, afterall iptv boxes are "PCs"...

The plugins for Kodi are the best way to go. And the EPG works better on them than any other device once set up properly. , but yeah, an inexperienced user may find an easier time just getting a MAG or AVOV box.

So you can use ipguys or voodoo with kodi plugins, if so which ones? And you can record as well, how do you go about that? It's me jam.

Psycon and some others have a great tv guide for kodi (better than fta!). I haven't figured out a way to record/pvr/dvr anything though. It would be the ultimate setup if you could setup shows to record and had a pvr like some sat boxes (722, etc).

there is currently no way to record streams with either stalker plugin.. may be some hope down the road as dvbken is interested in adding that functionality to pvr.stalker , only time will tell.

Most pvr plugins for kodi are simple clients that connect to a backend server elswhere in your home (usually) that handles the recording and whatnot, So kodi itself isnt made to do any type of recording itself, it merely tells the backend server what to record.

There really isnt a big need for such capabilities anyways IMHO. you can stream nearly every show/movie out there instantly using plugins such as genesis.. why watch your own recordings full of commercials when you can just watch a well done scene rip that has them cut out already.... The only thing people would need to record is live events and sports, and most of those are availible using streaming plugins, or torrent based plugins as well as soon as they are done airing.
