This restaurant recipe is easier than apple pie and tastier than apple crisp!
Ingredients:
6 large baking apples
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
vanilla ice cream
fresh berries
sweetened whipped cream
Preparation:
1. Wash and core apples
2. Remove a 1 inch strip of peel around the middle of each apple
3. Place in a 2-quart shallow baking dish.
4. Combine sugar, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar in a small bowl
5. Fill the center of each apple with mixture and dot with 1/2 teaspoon of the butter
6. Add just enough water to baking dish to cover the bottom of the dish
7. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for about 30 minutes, or until apples are tender
8. Baste with juices occasionally
9. Serve warm with a spoonful of sweetened whipped cream, fresh berries and vanilla ice cream
10. Decorate with confection sugar and cinnamon sticks
